New Star Trek trailer - awesome

Yep, I'm a bit of a trekkie on the quiet. Not the going to conventions and squeezing myself into Starfleet uniforms kind, but I've always enjoyed the shows and films. Not for me elves and pixies and hobbits. I prefer spaceships over golden rings.

The recent JJ Abrams reboot was fantastic, and the next one looks even better.

The trailer for the upcoming new film looks simply wonderful. Enjoy and comment.

    The last one was incredible.

First CGI that I've seen that looked real.

Best since "Magnetic Rose" from "Memories" (and that was a cartoon).

I'm a huge Star Trek fan and was lucky to be invited to the London Premiere of the first JJ Abrams film (did the whole walking on the red carpet thing - very cool ). I was a bit grumpy about it afterwards - I mean, I've watched Star Trek since the 70s and I know the planet Vulcan wasn't vaporised by time-travelling Romulans, ffs!! However, that and other silly inaccuracies aside, which somehow didn't seem to fit with the Star Trek "history" as I understand it, I watched the film at home a couple of times and have come to really like it. Sort of re-energised the whole thing, following the Patrick Stewart / Jonathan Frakes era. I'm worried, though, that the stories are becoming less cerebral, less intriguing - and more kind of all-action, Humans v Monsters stuff. Watching this trailer (thanks for posting it) I can't say that worry has been lessened... but I'll still go to see it.

I'll be happy as long as Bones says "are you out of your Vulcan mind?" again

Looks fantastic and can't wait to see it.

It's one of the few prequels where the actors chosen to play the younger characters fit the mould of what I remember Star Trek to be.

Loved the last film, a bit of Trekkie at heart too.

I think the trailer looks fantastic, I think Cumberbatch has the personality to be quite an imposing villain. A little worrying is the lack of space stuff in the trailer, it seems to be predominantly on earth or planetside.

Still, I'll be there opening day.

Also, the baddie (I won't spoiler and say who it is) but I've NO idea who he is in the Trek universe...

    Thanks for the update!
Loved the first reboot, I'm sure this will be just as awesome.
I see that Alice Eve is in this (Trevor's daughter), can't work out what character she is though...

Apparantly they are making three films!???
The second outing was supposed to come out Summer 2012 but was put back until summer 2013, so that it didn't clash with other 'blockbusters' .
I think Benedict Cumberbatch will make a fine villian :)
    Can't wait 'till May 17th 2013 !!

That's time travel for you. Neat trick, isn't it? The entire Star Trek / ST:TNG / ST:DS9 / ST:Voyager / ST: Enterprise cannon hasn't happened [and probably never will] in that reality. Opens it *all* up to be remade. Clever, no?

I've never been interested in star trex, but thanks to a good friend I went to that premier as well, with my son. The carpet was blue, not red .. : )

And i sat in the same row as clarkson, may and hammond (who were all pissed).
