For me it has to be the green, the black is just so common and the green is really unusual and stands out. Also the starburst effect of the dial is something to behold, a true classic in the making. The only reason I'm selling mine is the chance to pick up a grail watch but otherwise it would be a keeper for sure.

Classic LN all the way, although LV with a black dial is OK - green on green looks like something out of the Wizard of Oz, in my opinion!

Has to be green, that dial is to die for and can ONLY be appreciated when seen in real life. No picture can do it justice!

    Just one ????? You're kidding surely ????

I couldn't decide. However, if pressed under threat of having to sell all Rolexes, I would plump for the green - and I don't like green, as a rule. It is a beautiful piece and keeps changing colour - I've posted plenty of time about mine (if you search). Here are a few images.............

Green for me. Black is too common and the green always looks better in the flesh rather than in photos.

I might be a little biased as i have the black csub but thats the one for me ,its a great piece that looks stunning on the wrist and has a great feel about it .

I really don t think this one gets the credit for what a great piece it really is ,my advice get the black one you ll not be disappointed

The LV is a special piece indeed in its own right but the LN with its classic colour combo wins hands down in real world terms.

I wouldn't have the black one...the bezel isn't lined up..... but really for me the only real world choice would be to have my GMTc back

Have wanted and lusted after the LV for so so long, have just done a deal and cannot wait to have it on my wrist.
Stating this I love my 1994 sub, it is an all time classic which should and will remain a firm favourite and for this reason you see others wearing them.

It has got to be the black one - classic looks. There are a lot around for that reason, a black faced watch goes well with everything.

So far the green is quite a bit ahead, Im a little surprised I thought it would be closer and I had the LVc ahead only on points not a KO!

I was going to say the classic black until I saw the pics by ASW1. Stunning. But what's it's going to look like in 10 years? The black will always look good. I only wish I had to make such a difficult decision!

  32. #32
Be different and go green. If you want I will hold onto the LN for you with the promise you can probably have it back if you decide you miss it too much

    Subc LN or LV?

Having worn a 16610 LV for 5 years almost daily, I would suggest you go for the black version. The truth is that Green just doesn't go with everything, and over time it begins to grate.
I'm no style guru but when I wear a purple/blue or pink shirt with a grey or navy suit the green just doesn't go - it looks garish and flashy - whereas a black sub goes with absolutely anything.
Luckily I love the maxi dial on my LV which was the main reason I bought it over the normal 16610, and I have the option of swapping the bezel insert to black if I ever feel the need.
On the new 'hulk' - whilst I can see the attraction of the dial - you're basically stuck with it.
I should be brutally honest here and say I think the new case shape on the Submariners is awful - I haven't even been tempted to try one on - but I've seen lots of new sub variants in AD windows and on wrists around town.

LV hands downs! was my vote

On this theme, is it possible to buy the Hulk dial and bezel and then I could swap into my LN and have a two for one?

I believe it's not a DIY job like on the older 16610 :(.

This isn't an easy call for me. I've voted black but cirtainly not out of any dislike of the green model. I do love the way the green changes its colour with the light and the dial is beautiful but I don't think I could like with such an "out there" colour as an everyday wearer. Which is what I would want it to be. I don't like the fact that there are thousands of black ones about either but I think if I had to choose (and having two would not be a viable option for me) I would end up going with the tuxedo rather than the hulk. The black works 100% of the time and I'm afraid IMhO the green just won't .
