Reflections on six months here on TZ

I was thinking on the way home tonight about all the things I have been inspired to do since I joined here six months ago. I am a member of various other forums, but never have I picked up so many good ideas about how to spend time/waste money as much as I have here! In no particular order:

I bought a Rowlett toaster after reading a thread about British brands

I got into DE shaving and acquired a Gillette Slim after reading a thread about, you guessed it, DE shaving

I joined to find out more about the merits of 910 vs. 911 Flightmasters. I ended up buying and selling a 910 in the space of three months.

Somehow I ended up with an Omega Speedsonic that's now at STS for a service. I had never heard of either prior to this forum.

I needed some new shoes over the summer and ended up with some Loakes, again after recommendations here.

My partner had a £50 Seiko watch 6 months ago. Now she has an Explorer II - courtesy of SC.

I could probably think of another half-dozen or so others, but I'm beginning to worry that I may be easily led.

So to sum up your summing up, it sounds like 6 months ago you had a lot more money than you do now

The toaster was a good purchase. Looks very tactical in all-black and wouldn't be out of place in an Andy McNabb novel it is that hard!

Hmmm - me too. Have a Bosch one at the moment which is a bit rubbish...an upgrade may be in order!

I like the recommendation threads. Unlike the recommendations on some other sites were people talk about the delivery rather than the product or are blatantly working for the company or the competition it is nice to get recommendations from like minded people. By that I mean watch nerds. Keep up the good work.

The Rowlett is quality. I upgraded from a two-slice Dualit to the four-slice Rowlett Regent and it has been excellent.

The Loake shoes, DE shaving and my partner's Explorer II weren't bad acquisitions either :)

I'm waiting for someone to put a pre-owned wife (excellent condition -audio has a off-switch) on SC.

Give me a shout if you see one please, though recent service history is probably best avoided in this type of case.
