Help me deceide - Longines or Sinn

Looking for a cheapish chronograph that isnt a Tag Heuer (ive had a few). Ive found two that have caught my eye but no high street jeweller seems to stock them.

They are the Longines 1954 Heritage
    http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/collect...-watch-lng-671

    or the Sinn 103

    http://www.jurawatches.co.uk/collect...racelet-sn-117

Any thoughts or experience of these?

They are both very nice.I would be thinking about the time you may decide to let it go {it does happen!} and so with that in mind which do you think would be the quickest to go to a new home? and possibly hold a decent used price.I would say the Sinn.

Generally I prefer Longines to Sinn, but out of those two models I prefer the sinn.

I have always gone with Sinn as I just feel when I have to cash in it will be a bit less painful, but fashions do change and we may all want slim gold dress watches in the near future?

Both great looking watches, but how about a 'proper' Sinn ... a Guinand?

Cheaper than the 1954 and the 103 too.

I wonder whether any others on the forum can 'rate' the Guinands? They seem amazing VFM ... especially when you consider Sinn's recent inflation-busting hikes (along with many of the other German/Swiss companies).

I would go for Longines. They don't make that panda model anymore.

The Longines feels more dressy and the Sinn more casual. I have had them both and have tended to wear them for weekday and weekend respectively. Personally i found the Longines more versatile but the Sinn appealed more to my inner WIS (because its a Sinn of course)

Your call on what watch suits your situation.

Although I'm not a lover of chronographs, I'd probably go for the Longines.

    Cheers!

I love Sinn, but found the crown & chrono pushers on the 103 quite uncomfortable. I'd try before you buy if possible.

    The Longines looks nice.

Longines looks good, but Hamilton might be worth a look.

Where are you based? I know a High Street AD near me that has had the Longines model in the window for a while...it was still there the other day. If you can come to London, PM me and I'll direct you there.

In this case, I'd go for the Sinn. For some reason, I think dress watch when it comes to Longines, (something they do very well). Sinn are more a tool watch which seems to be the style you are after. You thought about Fortis?

    Both nice watches!

But I'd probably go for the Sinn after owning one myself, and I'd snap the one on SC up, means a lot when your avoiding that first hit on value!

Both very nice but it's the sinn for me, purely because I think you're less likely to see someone wearing Sinn than Longines.

Sinn. It's a bit of a signature model for a fine company, and the differing colours of the sub-dials on the Longines looks a bit awkward to me.

Depends what you are after. Both nice, but I'd say the Longines looks dressier than the Sinn. Whether that's bad or good, is up to you.

    Sinn

I would choose any Sinn over Longines on any given day

Sinn will give you the WIS online points but it's too austere for me, and the brand is a bit pricey for what it offers these days.

I've handled that Longines '54 and it's lovely, but two things niggle: the lack of lume, even as a slim infill on the hands, and the fact that a watch purporting to give you a 1954 feeling has an automatic chronograph movement. If you're a WIS, you'll know why that's a little bit incongruous!
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

+1.....even though I own a couple I`m not a big chrono fan and I find the Sinn far too fussy and cluttered. The Longines wins by a country mile for me. It's more dressy and it just looks nicer. The price isn`t silly by today's standards and it should be (relatively) cheap to service in the future.

    My advice......go for it!

Both nice watches personally I prefer the look of the Sinn, however I have a slightly left field suggestion,
    A Tutima Flieger Chronograph

Think it might be slightly over budget compared to the other 2.

Picked up the one on SC from Ben & im very happy with it. Put it on my preferred rally strap.
