incoming omega speedmaster moonwatch need a little help !!!

Hi guys i got a few queries for you speedmaster moonwatch specialists, as latley i have gone moonwatch mad and bought a few, always ben a rolex man but started to loike the omega,s as one the great watches also not 3k everytime you want one like when i want a rolex. The story goes i bought a 1978 moonwatch other day and the person sold me said he bought it from new and has box and papers so and is all original condition, his name is on the warranty booklet, which i can not argue with the original condition, but the problem i have is i thought they was a st145022 on the warranty card it says st1450022 was it a mistake at the time ?? or has he bought the booklet and filled the booklet out himself ? i,m not really that bothered just a nice touch on a vintage speedmaster fullset guy onwed from new. The other querie i have is the bracelet is 1171 and the other moonwatch i have has the 1171/1 ?? its looks really small than the other one of mine is this original to the watch, he told me the watch he has had from new back never been taken off ( probally going to need a service ) all works propally and is very good original condition a nice patina. whats your thoughts guys

    Hmm,

nice watch and nice patina. A liot of dirt too! I never understand why some people do not take care of their stufff. The movement will surely need a cleaning and oiling....

The ink looks pretty new for me on the card, so maybe the owner just filled it in...

The 145.0022 is normally a replacement case for the 144.022. The 1171/1 is the replacement of the original 1171 bracelet. The hands look very 'white' in your picture. Does the Tritium have the same colour than the dial? They look like replacement hands on the photo..

    nice watch!

Hi It's another member saying the case may have been replaced cause the warranty card says st1450022 I took the case back of last night and it say st145022 78, but my querie is do think the warranty card was added recently or was it mistake putting 00 in 1978 of purchase at the time as like plenty of roles I had they do make mistakes I.e wrong papers for watches

I would have been more concerned if the watch was a 145.0022 and the papers said 145.022. As stated, the 00 usually refers to a service replacement caseback so at least it has some age.

The ink on the papers does look remarkably fresh though......

This is all present and correct. An extra 0 is added to most Omega caseback numbers after about 1971 to make the Reference number, i don't know why, but the paperwork is filled out correctly and i would not expect ballpoint pen to age if it is kept in a watch box. Enjoy!

Hi simon so even thou my caseback says st145022 as I took it off and looked, they would put on the paper work st1450022 that makes sense as i read that some where after 71 added extra 0 to it a dealer mistake at the time ! To be fair I have Rolex papers from early eightys with nice ball point ink just depends on how they looked after the paper work
