You need to get out more mate.....
I've alway put tshirts etc on head first then arms and have always been confused when i see a bloke on a programme or film, usually american, when they put arms in first then pull it down over their heads, seem to always be that way round. Looks like much more effort to me and the few times i've tried it has reselted in said clothing all bunched up at the back of my neck and i struggle to reach it to free it all.
So is arms first an american thing or is it everyone and i'm just odd doing head first?

My first thought was head, then arms. But now I have no idea how I put a t-shirt or jumper on. I blame you if I can never again wear one because I get too confused getting dressed. :)
You put your right arm in, take your right arm out, put your right arm in, and now then shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn around, that's what it's all about!
You may be onto something OP..seriously.
When I was young, I think I used to put my head through and then arms as kids do.
In adulthood, I put my arms in first. The result when I'm putting on jumpers is that all the material gets bunched up around my right arm and shoulder, neck area so my wife often needs to straighten it out for me. We didn't know why this was happening.
Maybe I need to go back to what I did as a kid. I'll try and let you know.
You need to start a poll on this, its an important question that needs an answer.
I have always believed its a man/woman thing. All women I know go head first, so they dont mess up their hair.
Don't think I have ever met a man who doesn't go arms first. Are you sure you're not gay?
Most of my tops fasten at the back & the attendants do it for me, so it's "arms first" for me

OK, who else is going to admit they stood up, took off they're jumper/T-shirt and put it back on - just to check.
I'm a head first, then left arm, then right. It's got nothing to do with hair I think, more about flexibility.
My arms are much more flexible than my neck - doing it the other way (arms first, then head) gives a ricked, painful neck.
More than anything else, I do arms first more to prevent unnecessary stretching of the material that happens when you're trying to stretch the thing to get your arms in afterwards.
Didn't gave it a thought until I read this thread, but it's arms first for me. I bet the next time I'm putting a t-shirt on me, I'll mess it up just because I'm conscious of the "technique".
Arms first.
Also, I put my socks on before my trousers. Feels weird putting the trousers on otherwise.
brit, head first!
Yes...the British way is definitely head first then arms. Arms first is so American!
When you take a t-shirt off, I think it should be pull off at the collar...not the whole cross arms thing that women do.
Agree on the socks. Socks first, then trousers!

Arms first - I think is because of Nyctophobia rather than being American!
I dont f*** around with all that like you lot, I'm fast, all one fluid movement, arms and head through at the same time.
As a kid I was taught by my mother to put arms first becuase the head first method stretches the garment. Whether that's right or wrong is arguable, but that's what i still do.
Head first, and socks before troos.
But glasses after jumper/T-shirt, otherwise it all goes paws up....
I just had to take my t-shirt off and put it back on again to find out......
arms first when putting on, head first when taking off.
My 11 year old son looks like hes trying to escape from a straight jacket when hes putting on or taking off his top.
I have never seen a technique quite like it.
I'm trying to think of a more ridiculous thread in recent times in the George and Dragon...
