great looking fish there andy, sounds like you had a great day,do you smoke your own fish.
Had a very good day today. The salmon run has been late this year on the isle of Harris, believe it or not we had a drought.
I went out for an hours fishing this morning and lost two fish.
I use a Daiwa lochmore 10ft rod, 7 weight floating line, 6lb leader and a size 6 black muddler.
Because the fish seemed to want to play I.went back this afternoon, the wind had picked up.to a near gale and I hooked into a 6lb grilse on my 10th cast.
Safely landed I then hooked a pound seatrout. I then had a second 5.5lb salmon on the.next cast. Three casts later I hooked another that after much acrobatics was away with the hook.
Days.like this don't happen very often. I will pan fry some.steaks tonight from the smaller fish, the other is getting smoked!

Delicious!!!
I love fishing, especially salmon fishing. I have a permit on an east coast river than I use whenever I can, which isn't that often unfortunately.
I haven't knocked a salmon on the head for 20 years. If I was to wander home with a couple of grilse the locals would rip me a new backside.
Enjoy the fish. you had a good day.
