Thanks for the comments, I just had to get a shot of the lifts against the moonscape, I thought it had potential when I was sat drinking my Pelforth Brune!

We had a heavy snow shower heading in at work, so I (foolishly!) popped out to get this photo.

I do like the depth in that - and not bad for any camera, let alone a phone one!

Haven't posted anything in a while, so here's a couple from Scotland a few weeks ago:

With a view of Ben Nevis (really should have gone with the polarising filter...):

One quick grab from last weekend:

A happy capture of a dandelion:

And a few from a recent trip to a Wildlife Park:

    Quite possibly.

It is actually an art installation in the Jewish Museum in Berlin. Well worth a visit if you're nearby.

Thanks for that info, Berlin's on the list in the next year or two.

A couple of chance captures this morning.

The roe deer rut is just kicking off, and it's the best time each year to get photos of roe as they lose their nervousness with their minds on other things.

Then a little later this young muntjac buck came out:

I thought you meant Zelig's as well - I've never quite mastered night shots and that's great.

For the roe and muntjac I was using a Nikon D750 and the 500m f4G ED VR.

It's a nice combination and light enough to carry on a monopod as I had two spaniels with me as well.

Cheers, thought it would be a long zoom/prime - lovely colours and very crisp shots as well considering how nervous they are. I managed to get a few 'deerscapes' and blurred ones with 70-200mm on a crop sensor, didn't bother since. Nicely done once again.

    Thank you.

Deer are my real passion, but as you've found they can be difficult to get near enough to get a decent shot.

    I progressed from a 100-300 on a micro 4/3, to a 300mm f4 and a teleconverter on a D300, to the 500mm on the D750, yet still there are times when I'd like a bit more reach.

This is the one time of year when it's possible to get roe bucks to come close, as they throw all caution to the wind in the rut.

The does can be easier, particularly the youngsters when curiosity gets the better of them.

Thanks, no I did not know. I was actually laying on the ground photographing my dog in the sand dunes. They were literally inches from me and I noticed them. I'm off to check out what a Cinnabar moth looks like, thanks again.

They are a very attractive black with red markings. Give Google a go, as there are some nice images of them.

Allegedly a meme begun on the Internet in 2009. However, the meme (or possibly an archetype) pre-dates 2009, to the best of my knowledge. It is sometimes associated with shadow forms of the slender man.

That image will cause some people (who happen to have the genetic archetype coded into their minds) to freak out. Others will wonder what the fuss is about.

Nice bit of artwork and a good photo, no matter what. :-)

    Taken from a moving ferry...

No chance of a long exposure & so I resorted to video mode on the Canon 550D.
This is a 1920x1080 frame extracted from the video.
First time using video & I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Good shot and good tip, I've never used the video function on my cameras. What software did you use to extract the frame please?
