    Introducing my self / collection

    Hi All,

So ive been reading this forum for a couple of years and always been amazed at the knowledge on the board whilst building my interest in watches. This year managed to register but been slow on the posting, taking my time and only posting if i had a different perspective etc. Thought it best time to say a proper Hi and say thanks for all the posts, this is a cool place : )

Always hard to get my watches in the same place, out of storage/safe etc but today I managed to get some pics to show, sorry about the quality, iphone and im not very good at using it either.

    Hope you like them anyway

    Kash

Started with a Addidas watch my dad bought me when i was 16. Then a Gucci one I bought when 20ish and first proper swiss watch the old fav Tag

Then onto some forum favs, Sub date and Explorer

Next up a couple of Omega Liquid Metals (ltd ed and titanium chrono)

    Tag Re-Edition Silverston next

Then I got bitten by the vintage bug
Heuer Monza - Big Thanks to Nic at HeuerBoy for this one, Top bloke!

Omega Speedy LCD (Thanks Neil) and Pre Pro 64 105.003

And Finally a rare and rather delicate Heuer Chronomatic Monaco (Again, thanks Nic at HeuerBoy and Rich at Heuermonaco.co.uk)

    Hi. Nice collection!

I like the way you've kept your older watches, as it maps out your WIS journey. I sometimes regret that I traded some of my older pieces.

I like that too. I feel a bit sorry for the habitual flippers. It always seems like a hobby gone bad and turned into, at best, an obsession, and at, at worst, discontentment.

: ) yep you could say that. I love watches and how different they can be and the meaning they can hold, also love that they bring like minded people together on forums like this. Cheers

Great collection! But, no collection is complete until it contains a watch bought from our host.

    Great collection there Kash.

What are your views on the STS service on the 105.003 now that you've had it back a while? [I'm still procrastinating :( ]
And while I'm being nosey - always interested to hear the story of the hunt and selection process of collections like this ;0)

    Hi,

I think the service on the Speedy did it a world of good. It is running a lot better than it did before and the finish and quality of the job done is hard to fault. I'd even say its looking that nice im a little scared to wear it! I'd be the first to say though that they charge a fair penny for the work but i justified this since i wasnt sure when this one was last serviced and the movement did look dirty. The lume on the hour and minute hands was also breaking away and could have ended up in the movement if left alone (so i was told), therefore STS also put in a aged lume on these hands which I am happy with. It nice to know they will stand by their work with the warrenty and they do seem to be the specialist when it comes to vintage Omega. I'd say if you can afford the work, then do it. Like other things the financials involved with watches dont often make sense, but we do it because we get a lot out of it to justify the expense. Was even watching Apollo 18 last night and loved seeing the speedies on their wrists, was so tempted to bore the mrs with stories and explain how my one relates to it, decided not to in the end : )

The one watch that involved a heart stopping extended hunt was the Monaco for sure. I think I was the third or forth bidding on this one and in the end lost out. I just couldnt get it out of my head so I ended up trying to improve my offer and remaining cash liquid should things change in my favour, which thankfully they did (but it took untold amounts of patience which is not usually my strong point). From knowing one was available to getting it prob took two months of effort, daily emails/calls etc and even then i think i got lucky in the end. It is such a special piece, very very rare (around 10 known, half in this condition) but being a prototype for the mcqueen 1133b with the prototype and then not used in production paint, its very delicate.

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

    Hi Kash
Nice to read about the Monaco purchase. Sometimes collecting require real passion to secure the best of the best and in the case of your Monaco thats certainly rings true. These are the top of the tree in terms of vintage Heuer and you are now one of the very lucky few to have one. It was obviously meant to be and that is just how it goes in collecting vintage watches (and buying a house in the UK, but thats another subject all together).
    Best regards

Too true Paul, If its meant to be it will (with a bit of hard work thrown in : )

    Thanks for the comments guys.

The LM Omegas are lovely nice different look to the Subs and do stand out from the normal ceramic ones, definately recommend them.
