Great thread & great pics - sadly the only one I have with a display back is the Reverso, picture borrowed from JLC website.

Not as far as I know, I wrote to Ebel but they were unable to give me any information other than the year...1940

What I did find out, the watch had been posted here in a thread in 2009 (I think)

Happy to contribute to this interesting thread -

Here's an early Valjoux.72 movement from my (circa) 1946 Heuer.

Much like a classicly beautiful woman - aged but still very attractive.

    Gubelin case as well.

    That's a queer one.

Looks as though Heuer bought in the lot from Gubelin and had their own dial put on....or perhaps Gubelin did the lot for Heuer?

    Interesting.

Do you know the history on these?
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Those Seiko movements are seriously honest to jaysus. No messing, simple and functional.

Neither of them what you could call beautiful, but both classics of form and function:

    Cal 1310 Megaquartz from 1976

    and a Cal 283 30mm from 1953

I love the look of that movement from behind, however think the dial cut-out was extremely unnecessary.

Yeah, I guess it is not for everyone. I like it (obviously) and the fact that you can see the movement at work while wearing it on your wrist.

Omega 1510 - as ugly as it is accurate!

I see your ugly and I raise you with ... bland

Early 90's Tissot 2-hand dress watch. It's only 30mm wide, but still manages to be more spacer than movement. Not even sure why I have a photo of this, come to think of it.

Some lovely pics in here. I'd love to see the inside of my PAM or Breitling but I don't have the tool to open them. So I offer these:
