In threads like this it would be instructive if more contributors also stated which performers they like, as one already has.

Oddly, of the whole list, the OP's three are amongst the ones I like most. Others can be amusing at times but mostly I'd agree with your assessment.

Agree with your assessment - mostly I think it's down to the context in which they appear - especially cacking one's pants.

It would be a dull world if we all thought alike.

IMHO Merton has one joke - the introduction of the absurd. It really is tiresome to me but I'm glad you find him funny. It explains why he's on television. Jo Brand also has one joke - talking directly or indirectly about weight. She has recently expanded her repertoire to include jokes about her husband. Anderson is intelligent and has some good material but his delivery - where he talks over his colleagues or guests in short bursts of sniping fire - is too annoying. He's fine with straight material (for example in his Radio 4 output).

Happy to oblige - I like Steven Wright. Typical quote: I had a friend who was a clown. When he died, all his friends went to the funeral in one car.

BBC radio comedy is always buttock-clenchingly awful, but you're right about that show in particular. Christ, it's even worse than The News Huddlines was.

I would have to agree that pretty much anything Radio 4 claims to be comedy is not funny, but do find "The Now Show" amusing, by and by.
"The News Quiz" has to be regarded as Current Affairs, so is excluded from the " comedy " category. IMO

Captain, I hope you're joking. If not, that is wrong on so many levels I don't know where to start but I'll have a go.

First, you complete your daily motion. That is fine.

Second, you feel impelled to take a picture of your output. That's not fine.

Third, you post said picture on a public internet site for the approval of others. That is wrong.

Fourth, others feel compelled to offer an opinion on your picture - presumably this isn't restricted to critique of the lighting or composition.

I'm trying to understand my fellow man but I'm failing. Why would someone do such a thing?

Wash your mouth out! Eric and Ernie were the finest and funniest comedy duo to grace this planet.

Unfunny = Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr (coincidence, I think not!)

Have never been able to stand Lenny Henry but then I find most stand up unfunny anyway.

Just to go against the grain I find Russell Brand very funny especially that TV show he did (can't remember the name) when he lampooned a different subject every week. Hilarious.

Somebody mentioned Mrs Brown, I also find that show enjoyable and funny with just the right amount of surrealism, swearing and pathos.
    Cheers,
    Neil.
