My AD says the same, but could be September......and my name is now first on their list, in case I like it!

Not seen in the flesh yet but keen to do so and first on my local AD list too. Meantime however I picked up a very nice indeed 16613 with box and papers and service for a very decent price from the same AD who look after me sweetly:) now I'm not sure I want to ay twice as much for the blue dial YM!

I am just loving the blue dial and also the red highlights - the latter being a nice mirror of my 1680 Red's dial.
Being a new Rolex, hopefully I will not be disappointed in the same way as with the new Exp2 and the ceramic ND Sub. Time will tell.

Can't imagine this disappoints - apart from the blue face most of the refinements are internal. The only stumbling block will be the price...

The bracelet has also been upgraded. Price is £7,690 I believe, more for the platinum dial.

Just out of curiosity, why have you been disappointed with the two abovementioned?

For me, the Explorer is too large at 42mm and I am not keen on the dial (the floating hands in particular), with the ND the case (lugs and crown guards) is too bulky for my taste although I did prefer it to the dated version for the simplicity of the dial.

It's funny how we see things differently, I looked at the Sub ND this week and found it to be one dimensional and flat.

Agreed ,I've been holding off on a sub till the new no date came out but after trying it I prefer the date version.

The blue dial YM does look beautiful, I'd be interested to see how the dial looks under different lights though as I can see it looking quite different depending on the light source.

I can't see that being a problem, the number of 116713's I've seen about which IMHO are not as classy as this one.

I'd Love to own a YM, the only thing that puts me of is I'm afraid my military OCD could be set off by the end links not
    Being "dressed off" the lugs!

Passing goldsmiths today and saw the 16622 for £7840, the 116622 is likely to go for the same if not more. If you hear any different?

The new blue dial is cheaper than the currently available platinum one of the outgoing version 16622 (as opposed to 116622). My AD has quoted £7,690 for a blue next month.

I wish I could afford one.

The Tudor sub with the blue dial is also a beauty, but will have to make do with this blue dial for now.

    Stunning watch, perfect.

Unfortunately, price out of my range! I must work harder to become a partner at work. That watch would be my treat.

It's the term used to refer to the soldiers "dressing off" during or for a parade. Getting Into lines with equal distances between them.

You dress off your knife and fork if you put them opposite each other with a place Matt between.

The old one had rounder lugs meaning the bracelet say up a bit. The new one seems not to have that looking at the pictures above.

Been invited to my AD beginning September to view the new models so I guess it will be there to see....along with Skydweller which is what they have majored on in the invite blurb

Is this one not a platinum bezel then? I always ass u me d that the insert was platinum. Surely it's not the whole thing on the ok model. Is it??

The whole bezel? Or just the insert?

Didn't realise the dial was too.

There's no "insert". The whole thing is platinum, as is the dial, which looks stunning in sunlight.

The platinum YM is my all time favourite Rolex - passed on the chance of getting one recently and really regret it now. Needless to say the funds have gone elsewhere and it'll be a while before I have a spare 7.5k for a new one!

I do like that YM. I think it would be (IMHO) a whole lot better with a regular metal seconds hand though. Silver and blue with a little bit of red on the dial - perfect!

If I read the blurb correctly the blue sun-ray patterned dial on the new yachtmaster is still platinum?

It's subjective, as with most aspects of "WISdom". I for one prefer the second hand completely red, so nothing to pity at all in my opinion.

Yeah, the red hand looks a little cheap - well, not cheap - but not appropriate with the overall class of the watch. That probably makes no sense.

Red or coloured hands are usually used as chrono hands, and are there to be quickly & easily read when the chrono is running. Where here it is just the seconds hand. I think in photos it probably doesn't look *that* bad, but with it permanently sweeping around, I think it would be awful. (IMHO).
EDIT: I don't want to appear to be Rolex bashing (we have enough of those), I think this watch is stunning - I'm just thinking out loud!

I think the red hand works better on the Platinum dial than the blue.

I think the red provides a nice contrast to the dial.

this blue one looks nice, a guy at work has the plat dial one and in my eyes its just too much, nice but not my thing at all. I see that the YM divides opinion so i wonder if this one will be the shot it deserves perhaps. I'll be watching used prices.

    YM 116622 blue dial

Won't be purchasing one as well outside my price range.. But looking at the photo, it is sure going to be a watch I drool over at my local AD once it is released :(

Does anyone have an idea of what a good price would be for a mint example of the current 16622 with the platinum dial? Not keen on paying over the odds for a new one, notwithstanding the lovely blue dial.
    Thanks,

Got me looking at used plat dialed ones.

Tried on a current model earlier in the week, and found I did not like the curvature if the lugs at all, so end of story I am afraid, blue dial or not.

No worries. I'm trying to raise funds for an FPJ, but not in any hurry.
