Sweeping for listening devices - recomendations

No, not tin foil hat time  My days of substance induced paranoia are long gone.

I've got good reason to believe that a listening device or two has been put in my offices - some people are way too ahead of me too often for it to be coincidence. I've still got some ex spook/regiment contacts from doing Kidnap and Ransom insurance but they're prone to charging like wounded Rhinos and based in London, I'm in the Midlands. Anybody got any recommendations, either people or kit?

    Many thanks.

Create some misinformation, find out who acts on it then use the answer to your advantage. *

Google for TCSM. I used to do it (search, not plant) in a different life but that was a long long time ago and technology has moved on since then. Listening devices can be as simple as an easily converted baby alarm from your local Mothercare to... Well, something a lot more sophisticated. My contacts are long gone but start with a fingertip search of your office when everybody has gone home and do not mention this subject to anybody within any areas you suspect are affected.

If your line of business is government based then there are people paid to help you but as a private individual it could be costly. As for buying the kit, you are looking at 5 figures to buy anything worth having.

With a lot of cheap modern tech they could be using some wifi kit. Get "WiFi Analyser" app and have a walk round. Not fail safe but you can do it in the next 2 mins !

Turn on the bathroom taps, and hold all conversations in the shower...

It always worked for James Bond.

While you are sweeping your room for bugs, beware of ugly russian women with spikes in their shoes.

If one does happen to attack you, improvise, and use a chair to defend yourself.

Sweeping for listening devices - recomendations

Would these devices placed by private individuals or an agency be that government or other wise. If it is the later they already know that you suspect and it is too late.
If it is the former then you will be able to find them. One of the biggest issues with what you are suggesting is power supply so start with searching things that have a supply like phone, PC ect. Maplins and other places like that sell basic devices that lower agency's and private individuals may use. Do your home work.

If you suspect this to be the work of a higher agency you are in a word "buggered". They will and have the ability to use many and varied lines of attack from the emissions from every appliance you use, to laser microphones. Trust no electrical device at work home or car. Replace your phone with the most basic device you can. Think the one you would give to an 80 year old that just phones and if it leaves your sight or person destroy it and the sim card.

But you are your own worst enemy in every thing you say and do that is not thought out.

    Think who can you trust?

It sounds like you work in a business that has some "interesting" sides. And those interesting sides have interesting people an all will have a reason not to trust them some where in the past.

Busted! Although my license is to frustrate and bore, not kill.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I did a wi-fi search some time ago and nothing shows, I've also searched, and I got quite good at that looking for fags and booze as a kid at boarding school, back of drawers etc..

I work in a commercially sensitive environment but not govt so no spook help sadly. I think in reality it might be a large bill form some of those sophisticated types.

No worse than the sights to behold in the girls hairdressers - a la swimming hats with hair pulled through and the foil rasta's.

Notwithstanding the fact that the OP is nuts of course......
