Jim.
You missed off 'Grand Seiko are great'.
You missed............"which Panerai should I buy"...........this exact question is driving me crazy right now.........(I think I have settled on either the PAM328 or PAM005, but I really need help on final decision.. :blackeye: )
Favourite G-Shock does the rounds too, although I did respond! :blackeye:
Dunc, until the day comes when Tony buys a modern one, takes moody pics, tells us he loves it, puts it on leather, nylon, bracelet and rubber, then flips it, they will just be an ordinary watch :mrgreen:Originally Posted by WingTsun

Hi
You forgot to add "why is the SC filling up with non-watch related stuff"
Thanks

Read the SC rules  :wink:Originally Posted by deano42

Personally for me, I don't open threads of watches I dislike.
Other - because there was no "pointless threads, just like this one"....

I would say any thread which moans about the topics raised by other forum users. I'd like to think this is a friendly place where we can discuss watches and other things which take our fancy, not a hostile place where people need to think carefully before raising genuine questions in case some grumpy, frustrated, middle aged man finds something to moan about.
And no, I'm not going to give examples, just look around :bom:

Should also have a selection for "Can I wear my submariner in the shower/pool/lake/washing my hands?" Implied face palm...
sc is slow, apparently it's been slow for as long as i have been around at least
That's not a bad topic, it's just a terrible response to any topic that's unrelated. Here's an example:Originally Posted by burnsey66

Response: Get a Grand Seiko, the finishing is amazing and/or insert a "snowflake" reference.
You forgot "is it safe to 'know' a women, in the biblical sense, while wearing my submariner".Originally Posted by TakesALickin

Sod the vote. I'm just surprised you got 2 pages of responses without someone telling you in a very direct manner that the Bear Pit is the place to moan about pointless threads. Watch Talk must be slow at the moment :-)
no the bear pit has turned all positive recently, don,t know what is going on these daysOriginally Posted by bluegreen
A grown man asking other grown men - what watch he should wear on holiday...............
And the other grown men - responding.

I don't mind any of the above so much. What I really hate are threads like:
"I don't get brand X. Prove to me otherwise, mere mortals, the virtues of your pathetic favourite brand X."
"Anybody who buys brand Y is a pooh-head and here's why."
"I'm trying to decide between watch A and B but I will only reply with reasons why A and B aren't perfect."
"I'm trying to figure out XYZ about a watch but all useful replies will be ignored."
"I found a fake watch on E-bay. I can't believe such listings exist, though I posted 10 of them last week."
Polls.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Daddel.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
Rather than threads panning Rolex, I nominate threads gushing about Rolex. I just don't get the fascination. Posts that talk about actual defects / design flaws that have resulted in some kind of cosmetic degradation which are then seen as making it extra rare and some kind of selling point really blow my mind.
I'd like to try the same approach the next time I sell a car..
"This is a Mercedes W124 200TE. Unfortunately this example has suffered from the uncommon problem of the front wings corroding heavily. This makes it extra rare and therefore has 25% on top of the normal asking price.."
I fully expect to take a reaming for expressing a dis-interest in Rolex but I thought it only fair to balance the poll accordingly ;)
You forgot 'threads and polls moaning about the forum started by members who in 5 years membership have amassed less than 200 posts - mostly consisting of 'I like it' or 'I don't like it'.'

Oh and a question for the forum?
Should I take my SMP off before masturbating in case it over winds? :?
Well, if I had to choose one (and not the "all above") I'd say the Bond thing. I don't get the point and fuss at all, but maybe it's a UK thing.

The Rolex or the semi?Originally Posted by Jeremy67
Your SMP has a clutch to prevent over winding, so no danger there. You can masturbate for hours... or however long your wife will tolerate it.Originally Posted by Orange Peel
