Sinn U1000 S, much love for them?

Looking at these, and even with all the technical nature, they seem to be uncommon on here both SC/WTB and watch talk. Does anyone have one, and are these considered to be climbers in the Sinn world?

I think Toshi may have or had one. My opinion is that whilst it seems to be a great watch with most of Sinn's technologies in, it is a bit to much of a beast (18mm thick IIRC). Also they were 3K+ before lots of recent price hikes across lots of manufacturers and perhaps suffer a bit from people thinking "3k for a Sinn?, no thanks". YMMV

Yes they are a rather thick number, along the lines of my ploprof was, so as I moved that on then maybe the size isn't for me. I was approached by someone with one for a trade on my 142 with cash his way. Not sure of the value though really. And I am supposed to be selling things to pay for my wedding, not trading up!

I really like them but as already said the price is a little steep.
I think Sinn have moved past the point where they are tempting new.

Tried the S model and Regular on rubber and metal strap in Sinn factory. Huge watch, but if your wrists can handle it, then by all means go for one. It's packed with all Sinn tech (DIAPAL not included), and it's a proper pro diver. The Sinn rubber is a little thicker for U1000, so it balances the watch quite well on the wrist. The legibility is awesome

Here is a shot on my 7,5'' wrist from Sinn HQ

I tried one on at the factory in Frankfurt; not my cup of tea. Even if for some reason I wanted a chronograph in a diver's watch, it's just too bulky. The "S" version is a bit Grim Reaper as well.

The standard U1 is the one to have in that model range.

Just trying to decide if my 142 and $500 is a fair trade...

Although I like the U1000, I'd be tempted to keep the 142 and get a cheaper U1/U2/UX to go with it. That 142 is nice

Now I'm a big fan of Sinn, but I wouldn't ever consider the U1000 to be honest. It's too big and bulky and although it is a great design for a diving chrono, it's not really a watch you could wear easily in other situations. For that money there are plenty of other Sinns (and other brands for that matter) I'd look at first.

    regards,
    Nick

Fantastic piece, but the buttons are on the wrong side for me :)
