Then I'd crop the bottom up to where the pavement joins the shopfront on the right, just enough to take the join of the paving slabs away as this will also be a distraction. All IMHO and very subjective of course!

I hope you don't mind me posting this, but this is what had in mind, it retains the nice perspective of your original I think...

Not at all, and I see what you mean! Very nice. My composition/cropping leaves much to be desired, I'm afraid..

Red Lion Square, Stamford, Lincs UK

Red Lion Square, Stamford, Lincs UK … a panoramic comprising 12 out of 14 original handheld vertical components stitched together with a little help from Photoshop Elements. The components were resized to 1000pxl high before processing. All RAW components batch converted before resizing. Moving traffic makes 'slice' / 'component' selection difficult … necessitating waiting between each exposure to ensure that only stationary vehicles are included … or that moving vehicles are only included in one 'slice' … and if necessary deleting any component images from the results before the final image was created. Essential to keep the camera vertical and without tilting to ensure the buildings' verticals do not noticeably lean/converge/ diverge ... but some perspective correction was necessary for the final composite. Plan to repeat the experiment using a 24mm shift lens thus hopefully including the whole of All Saints Church spire on RHS.

Sony A7S / Canon FD 35/2.8 Tilt & Shift lens … using maximum vertical shift.

… and this is the result from a previous attempt standing on the opposite side of Red Lion Square when used a 19mm lens with the A7S

Driving into town we saw a gaggle of them. (Hartlepool fans : dressed similarly) Unfortunately, they'd all made it to the pub by the time we parked up.

Would've been a better pic imho.

    So what's going on here?

No passers-by seem the least bit concerned about this chap's predicament …

Just as well because he's doing his best to take the photograph … and has not succeeded because part of the foot is excluded!

Wish me better luck next time when will approach the subject a little differently.

This 'failure' was taken using my Sony A7S fitted with a Leica R 19/2.8 Mk II

The photo of me laying prostrate across the pavement was taken by a friend … we'd visited Photographica and Speakers' Corner last Sunday and decided to try and obtain a decent photo of Allan Sly's 'WINDOW CLEANER' bronze statue adjacent to Edgware Road Tube Station.

    Best wishes

Very annoying for you to have missed that foot off, I've done similar myself untold times. It's easily done when wrapped up in getting a shot though. A shame as the shot still looks good, great perspective.

Unedited iPhone image from Princess Street Gardens, Edinburgh today.

My two nieces were convinced that he was dead, but he definitely moved (unassisted!) as we carried on.

Why is it that black and white can change a picture so much! I guess it simplifies things for our brain and allows you to focus on the structure.

Speakers' Corner Sunday 21 May. Using a Sony A7S with Leica R 19mm Mk II and holding the camera above my head whilst composing using the semi-articulated screen, enabled some close encounters … whilst the preoccupied speakers and hecklers remained oblivious to my intrusion. The 19mm wide angle lens set to 4ft and f8 does not require focusing when used at close quarters - camera thus used as a ‘point & shoot’. Wide angle Leica R lenses being more telecentric than wide angle Leica M lenses, work very well with the Sony A Series FF cameras.

For some reason, only the family on a bicycle shot is showing for me (it's excellent, btw). In MS Edge I can see icons for broken picture links but Firefox just appears as a blank.
