Enjoyed 'Shot Caller' worked on a few levels although it remeinded me of a very old Tom Selleck vehichle 'An Innocent Man' and American History X
Steve Jobs - didn't think I would enjoy this film but thought I'd give it a go as it's a Danny Boyle flick. Doesn't paint the man as particularly likeable but great movie and the two leads were excellent.

People who enjoy sports and Olimpics in particular, please skip this, it will ruin it for you
I just watched new Netflix documentary Icarus. It starts off as "what doping actually does and how it can be done without showing up on the tests" and after first 40min takes a turn as documentary crew ends up with firs rows sits in the big anti doping scandal. Excellent and highly recommended.

Had an up and down movie weekend so far. I watched This is England followed by Quadrophenia on Friday evening. Seen them both before though. This is England is a good film, funny but dark. Quadrophenia is one of my top ten of all times for reasons unknown - okay I love films where the protagonists go round the bend!
Followed yesterday with Taxi Driver. I'd never seen this film and so decided to give in to the hype. Sadly, I was so disappointed. I watched it all in case it improved but it just did nothing for me.
Last night I watched King Rat from 1965. Great cast, great acting and a couple of hours of tense immersion into life at Changi during WW2. It helps that I'm a fan of James Clavell upon whose novel the film was based. Well worth a view in any case.
Today I am going to watch another oldie in Don't Look Now. Not seen this before but it comes highly rated and Donald Sutherland is always a good draw.
Best thing about Don't Look Now has to be Julie Christie. She's absolutely divine. The ending to the film is a bit disappointing though.
I quite enjoyed re-watching The hunt for Red October in the week...
Watched Lion yesterday with Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman. Superb film .
Just watched Passengers, enjoyed it much more than I expected to
Anti Matter - if you like stuff like Primer, Coherence and I Origins, then this is of the same ilk. Good quality, low budget sci-fi. On the iTunes 99p rental at the moment.
Logan was very good as was quite an old film called Sideways with the guy from Billions...
Finally got around to watching The Girl On The Train and enjoyed it. Some friends had been underwhelmed and so I hadn't bothered to watch it but was pleasantly surprised.
You need to have a good pinch of salt handy in places but overall it was a decent thriller.
Saw IT last Friday. I've recently finished re-reading the novel so was expecting to be super critical of the film but I absolutely loved it. Hard to compare it properly with this only being part 1 but I can't wait for the next bit already. Thought it was really well acted, nailed the spirit of the kids & managed to get all the themes the book touches on mentioned even if it's just briefly. Pennywise was terrifying, obviously
seen these over that's few weeks
Dark Tower - disappointing 6/10
Logan lucky - average 6/10
Detroit - very good 8/10
American made - very good 8/10

IT. I thought it was great. Slightly reminiscent of stranger things except with a scary assed clown.
My friend screamed twice. She's usually quite stoic with horror so that's a sign of a couple of good jumpy bits :)
Enjoyed 'Limehouse Golem' last night, Victorian London Jack the Ripper-esque murder mystery
I've just seen that The Amazing Spider-Man is free to buy on sky store at the moment
I watched Apollo 13 for the first time today, really enjoyed it.
baby driver nothing not to like
Bypass American assassin, rent at the most, poor choice but i simply chose the next film available :(
Just watched Mindhorn. Good comedy. Funny from start to finish.
I have just finished watching Pawn Sacrifice. Bobby Fischer story based around his match with the Russian world chess champion spassky. It was surprisingly good.

An outstanding film. Ulrich Mühe (RIP) who played the Stasi officer was in the East German army as a young man, and subsequently under surveillance by the Stasi when he became an actor. I was followed by bored Stasi agents when in East Berlin many years ago. A long rambling recollection of that, the film, and modern surveillance versus freedom is here for anyone bothered http://porlm.com/soapbox/the-lives-of-others/. The film is vastly superior.
King Arthur wasn't too bad, apart from some of the accents!!
Watched a good film on iplayer last night called Broken. Very thought provoking gritty British drama with some great performances.
Today I saw "Wind River" with Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen. EXCELLENT drama/thriller with superb acting.
baby driver... just ok, nothing special... not bad soundtrack
Billion dollar brain is on Film four now,
Great film
4 Lions - best film ever, rubber dinghy rapids bro.
Of the many watched my two stand out ones are 'The Hero' and 'The big Sick'
Watching wonder woman tomorrow, wish me luck lol
Kingsman; the golden circle
The first one was awesome, and the sequel was as equally awesome. It did seem to drag on a little in the middle, but it may of just been my disjointed appreciation of time at the moment (a different story).
Some great lines, great and gratuitously over the top action, and Elton John snap kicking bitches with rocket man platform boots on.
A solid 7.5 out of 10
Very entertaining
Logan Lucky! Both missus and me enjoyed it very much, I really do wish Soderbergh comes out of his retirement more often, we need capable directors more than ever.
I forgot how bad the editing and composition has gotten until I saw this little gem and Baby Driver (Edgar Wright)
The Accountant, on Sky, very good.
Hmm...I was about to see Kingsman based on the trailer until the San Diego Union-Tribune gave it one star! Checked Rotten Tomatoes and the critics score it 51% (=rotten). Oh, well.
I've never put much stock in what critics say. I might take a swerve if a movie is really badly universally panned (which Kingsman hasn't been), but usually I trust myself to make my own mind up.
Spiderman Homecoming last night for me, absolutely excellent! I was going to leave it a while out of sheer stubbornness (a THIRD reboot? No thanks!) but I enjoyed it a lot, brings the character right into the MCU fold where he has always been a stand-alone before.
Hopefully we'll see a bit more spidey before they kick off the full "Infinity War" arc, which I suppose will have to spell the end of the current marvel movies.
