Watched I, Daniel Blake. I'm not normally a fan of this sort of thing, but it was very well-played and deserving of its Palm D'Or. Shows how dehumanising "the system" can be - very moving.

I initially dismissed 13 hours as a typical Michael Bay action movie, but finally saw it based on couple of recommendation here, and it was great! Really surprised me, fast moving and action packed
We watched The Founder. One of the best films I've seen in a while. An interesting story, and very much "shades of grey" in what it says about Kroc, the McDonald bros and capitalism/commercialism. Michael Keaton is brilliant as ever.

I have always been mindful of what I'm eating and where it's coming from, but this was a real eye opener. How much the UK/EU follows the same system as the US I have no real idea.

Baby Driver. Believe the hype, this is possibly now My New Favourite Movie. I can only describe it as The Fast and the Furious blended with The Notebook and made by the love child of Tarantino and Scorsese and Woo. It's a weird beautiful love story with guns, a killer soundtrack and fast cars.
Really looking forward to Baby Driver, looks like my cup o tea!

I went to see Baby Driver last night...I really enjoyed it. I think Papa Hotel summed it up perfectly.
I will just reiterate though that the soundtrack is superb!
If so, then I never want to see it!
I know we are supposed to say that it was great, but I switched it off after 15mins.
I saw The Mummy on Tuesday (for lack of anything better to see). Based on numerous reviews, my expectations were VERY low. I was pleasantly surprised...Tom Cruise came through again with a decent action yarn!
I know it got slated, but I didn't think the new King Arthur film was too bad at all.
A Monster Calls was very good - genuine emotional depth for a fantasy film.
Agreed, it was quite moving.

My other half said she didn't want to see it, "it definitely isn't my kind of movie", two hours later her type of movie was something else.
It's weird, but it defies being boxed into a nice easy genre. It's not a comedy, not an action thriller, not a musical, not a love story... yet it's all of those. That doesn't mean it's a mess that manages to be everything yet nothing, it treads its own path and works brilliantly. Give it a go.
I watched Sand Castle last night, and enjoyed it, its not perfect, and kind of predictable, but worthy of your time.
Enjoyed Jawbone - a good watch.
McLaren - thought it was great.

Took the twins to watch Despicable Me 3 yesterday. Bloody brilliant.
Stick with it. One of the better films I've seen this year.
On that, I saw Baby Driver this week. Loved it. It's probably my most enjoyable visit to the cinema this year.
It's got the Edgar Wright hallmarks but he's taken it up a notch. At times I was reminded of High Fidelity, Drive and Heat but with more energy.
Plenty of laughs and a tremendous soundtrack.
I want to see it again.

Watched this last night and pretty decent indeed.
John Wick chapter 2 last night really enjoyed it as long as you aren’t into a believable storyline just a good action movie with great fight scenes
Plus one for Baby Driver, most entertaining.

That is a good article and I kind of picked up on some of the points it raises, I think I was expecting something else from the film and wasn't thinking too much about the meaning, I probably focused on how badly I thought Pitt was playing the General and couldn't get passed that, in reality he probably played him as he saw him. I'll go back and watch it again from the beginning I think. Thanks for the link.

John Wick 2. Over stylised meaningless tosh. I want to go back in time and kill john woo's mum for allowing this genre to start. 2/10
Alien covenant. Ridley has lost it. Where Prometheus was tense and intriguing, this was predictable, teenage pandering guff. 5/10
Rewatched Indiana Jones and the last crusade. Still a blueprint for nigh on perfect action/adventure. 9/10

Finally got round to watching T2 Trainspotting. I'm a big fan of the original, and think Danny Boyle never does a dull movie (even less regarded ones like The Beach are far from boring).
Really enjoyed T2, but agree with its critics when they say that they overplayed the nostalgia element too much - far too many flashbacks and clips from the original imo. (They probably had to put these in or else it would've made no sense at all to anyone who hadn't seen T1, but unnecessary for those that had).
Watched Baby Driver last night. What a fantastic movie. I went into the movie not reading any of the reviews, so tried to avoid the hype as much as possible.
It is quite a refreshing movie actually - no CGI! The storyline per say isn't completely original, but all the elements work. It helps to have a stellar cast as well! It also convinced me how important sound and music are to the watching experience. Which was entirely spot on.
Best movie of the year (so far) I think.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword - awesome movie!
At one point during conversation i was thinking hm.. i recognize this style.. let me check who is director, and voila Guy Richie. I really recommend this movie.

Another recommendation for Baby Driver. Excellent characters and plot. Fantastic music which is so expertly woven into the film. Easily the best film so far this year imho.

Saw the new spidey yesterday, meh just ok.
Watched Batman vs Superman. Considering this was mercilessly slagged-off at the time, I thought it was pretty good - even a bit PoMo with its exploration of the consequences of superheros in the "real world". The fights scenes were a little drawn-out, but they always are in this kind of thing. Far better than any of the recent Marvel stuff (except Guardians), which I find completely tedius. Probably helped that I watched the Ultimate Cut, which apparently fills in some of the plot holes that made the cinema release a bit of a mess.
Also watched The Girl With All The Gifts, which is a slightly different take on the Zombie theme. Not brilliant, but defintely worth a watch.
Yup, Baby Driver.
Smooth, sassy and smoking' hot. Basically a music video, even the dialogue has rythym, with car chases. Wonderful driving and chase choreography. A crime caper with genuine heart.
Looking forward to eventually catching bats vs the alien.

I just watched Baby Driver. Absolutely fantastic
The last film that mixed music, snappy dialogue, kinetic camera work and such smart acting to such a level was Pulp Fiction for me
