A Quiet Place - watched this and I thought it was very good. Quite a good concept which has been well executed.
Jaws...
Saw it was on Netflix the other night. Thought I'd just watch 10 mins. The next thing it's two hours later and we're watching the end scene! I must have seen this half a dozen times and it's still a darn good film. Okay the iGeneration might think some of the effects a little comical but overall I think it stands up quite well 40 years on.
Good fun. It deviates from the book somewhat but Ernest Kline was involved in the making and they had to translate some of the book challenges for better screen impact and for a younger generation. Those work well but other elements remove from the appeal of the book (don't want to post spoilers)

I watched Rocknrolla the other day, and rather enjoyed it. It's a Guy Ritchie gangster film, in the same vein as Lock Stock and Snatch. If it was made today, he wouldn't be able to afford the cast - Idris Elba, Gerard Butler and Tom Hardy are all in it. Catch it on Netflix.
Watched Shot Caller on a recent flight. Really good film with “Jaime Lannister” ie: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from GoT. Really well written and acted. Recommended.

Founder. The movie about Ray Kroc. The man who made McDonald’s big. Interesting to watch. And Kroc is close to crook...
I fully expected to grab an hour's nap this afternoon when I took the kids to see Isle of Dogs. F**king fantastic movie!
'I love the rain, it washes memories off the sidewalk of life'.
Watched Freefire last night.
Recent film from 2016 about an illegal arms deal that goes spectacularly wrong.
Set in 1978, IRA representatives (inc Cillian Murphy) meet in a disused factory to buy a large consignment of rifles.
It all goes wrong and then it's bang-bang-bang!
Reminiscent of Reservoir Dogs with a similar violent comedic element to it.
If you like that sort of film, highly recommended.
Cheers,
Neil.
A Quiet Place.
90 minutes of tension turned up to 11. Brilliant.
Southern Comfort. Seen it many times, still good, cracking theme tune too

6 Balloons. A Netflix original about a heroin addicted brother and his sister who is struggling to live.
A sad interesting watch although could have been a bit longer and a better ending.
‘The Homesman’.
Bleak Western, in which Tommy Lee Jones (also the Director) & Hilary Swank take three mentally-ill women on a long journey from the ‘Wild West’ to a care facility in the East.
Sounds odd, ruthless & depressing – and it is – but also well made & acted, with a stellar cast and is optimistic in parts. One of those quirky, late Sunday night efforts that you don’t at all intend upon watching, but happen across whilst flicking channels and it then draws you in.
I caught a 100 streets thought it was ok, also watched Life it had a great twist in it both worth a watch!
Watched Justice League a couple of days ago, fairly average film but enjoyable all the same.
Get Out
Was rather interesting and slightly unsettling until you find out what's actually going on. At that point I just thought WTF!
Just watched Joaquin Phoenix in "You Were Never Really Here." Another brilliant performance! Comparisons being made to "Taxi Driver."
Spacewalker - in Russian with English subtitles. Wasn’t expecting much but it’s a great film. Not as Hollywood as Apollo 13 and all the better for it. Some genuinely tense moments and good humour thrown in too.
Goldstone. Good Aussie thriller. Also, just watched Taffin for the third time. Classic!
Molly's Game - quite enjoyed it.
All the Presidents Men the other night.
Years since I have seen it, but still a classic.
Lynne Ramsay's 'You Were Never Really Here' is absolutely fantastic. Probably my film of the year (I'll be happy if something better comes along but I doubt it will).
A Quiet Place. Really good use of quiet and signing really builds up the tension. A few scares, a few plot holes but overall highly recommended.

I watched American History X the other night for the first time in about 15 years.
I had this legendary movie in my memory but by God it has aged badly. The 1990s are dripping out of it, stylistically it looks every day its 21 years old.
Anyway, aesthetics aside, still a powerhouse of a movie.
Edward Norton frightening and believable in every way, even through the unlikely prison friendship.
Saw that a few days ago, thought it was great.
Somewhat of an allegory for parenting, I thought, which was a much scarier & more affecting concept than the actual monsters themselves.
It amused me that in an otherwise ransacked grocery store, all the noisy crisp packets were left on the shelves, untouched. Clearly a family-size pack of McCoys would be lethal in that environment!
Elwood: There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Joliet Jake: Hit it!
I haven't watched it for ages ....... watched it tonight and it is still one of the best films ever.
It has been mentioned before, but I'll add an endorsement for Icarus. I started watching it with a modicum of interest in the subject matter and it absolutely pulled me in with the astonishing developments.
Re visited " Seven ". Still think it's a fabulous film even with a alleged bad real life actor in it.
What do folks think of films like this that 20 years later some allegations come out?
I'm not talking sides but i saw this actor in Richard 3rd in London and was a classic, one of the best I've seen.

Just watched Avengers Infinity Wars. Really enjoyable with a decent story and for once a decent more complex bad guy. Best of the 3 so far.

Avengers: Infinity War. Very good. You can see why it cost so much given the cast and effects
Loved the dry, vulgar and insightful humour in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing.... Excellent acting by all.
