Four Lions, Chris Morris is a dark comedy genius, peanut and crow segments are comedy gems.

Took the kids to see Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy yesterday - pretty good. Explained the whole captain hook & ticking crocodile from Peter Pan too!

    HAYWIRE

Not very cerebral, but a couple hours of fun with a big cast - an assassin going round kicking ass to clear their name, the catch being she's rather fit!

Its Gina Carrano, I think. An ex cage fighting gal. Although I've never seen the film.

Yup just checked. It is Gina....phwoar. I'll have to watch it soon.

Just watched White House Down, which in my opinion might be the best Die Hard style film since Die Hard. Really good action with a bit of heart and a nice line in humour and cynicism. A million times better than the dull, overblown and really racist Olympus Has Fallen

Just watched NEBRASKA what a brilliant film And quite different, highly recommended.

    Agreed.

Saw Captain Phillips last night, which was not quite what I expected (difficult to explain w/o spoiling) but still very good. As ever, super performance from Tom Hanks.

    Try Fortress of War.
True story of the Germans invading Russia in 1941, and attempting to take a Russian fort.
Subtitled, as languages are Russian, Belarusian and German.

    Not family viewing.

I got the Blu Ray off play.com for £3. Sound is stunning.

Apologies if it's been mentioned in this long thread before.........but 'Nebraska' is a must see. I wouldn't normally do anything that Jeremy Clarkson recommends.........but he was right on this one!

Agreed. And I don't think that it's looked down upon if you happen to watch the same film as somebody else :p

Watched a couple of DVD's over the weekend that i've had ages but hadn't got round to.
'Hanna' - Was looking forward to this, started well but then just 'meh'
'Inglorious Basterds' - Really enjoyed this, not as action packed as i thought it would be but very entertaining, found the ending quite surprising.

Inglorious Basterds is a great watch :) Not one of my films by any margin, but still rather enjoyable.

Watched Cop Land again last night.

Can't go wrong with Keitel, Liotta, De Niro etc and Stallone wasn't too wooden either.

    Good flick.

    The Wolf of Wall Street

My God, haven't laughed so much in ages, absolutely terrific stuff

Both leads were robbed at the Oscars!

Watched Rush and thought that it was excellent.

Also loved the Lego Movie and cheered along with my 7 year old son! Brilliant marketing as well!

    the act of killing

Went to see the single showing last night.

Disturbing. A VERY disturbing 3 hours. More so because it paints a picture just more extreme, but basically the same as our society. Just not covert and on a different scale.

    Impressively clever made too.

A must see. I am 'glad' I put it on the calender and took the trouble to go down to Malaga for it.

Watched dead mans shoes last night.

    A low budget ch4 film.

Very very good although a bit depressing.

Stumbled across an 80's film on some obscure channel the other night, i remember watching it as a kid and really enjoying it so ended up watching the whole thing into the wee hours.

'The Beast' it was called, though i remember it being called 'Beast of war' when it came out.

Set during the Russian invasion of Afganistan and is about a lone Russian tank lost in the desert being persued by some Afghan Mujahideen types.

Wasn't sure how well this would have aged given the current climate (think Rambo 3, American helps the downtrodden local peaple fight the evil invading Russian forces), but i actually thought this was still very enjoyable

I went to see The Grand Budapest Hotel at the weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's typical Wes Anderson, very snappy and stylish with a great cast and a fantastic score. Perhaps it was just a littlestyle over substance, but it was a very enjoyable experience overall.

    Control.

The story of Ian Curtis and Joy division.

Beautifully made monochrome film. Sam Riley and the rest of the cast were excellent and really bought the period to life.

Obviously quite sad but well worth watching if you have even a passing interest in the music and band.

    Cheers,
    Neil.

yup Paddy Considine is on fire in this film. I enjoyed/appreciated it but probably wouldn't own it as it's heavy stuff.

Here's a couple of 'mad as a box of frogs' genre bending crazed kung-fu 'epics' that are pretty damn good :@)
'The Wrath of Vajra' Before the West entered World War II, a Japanese death cult called the Temple of Hades is ordered to aid in the spiritual destruction of China by having lot's of -to the- death match bundles!
'Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons' It's a martial arts V the supernatural mini masterpiece by Stephen 'Shaolin soccer and Kung-Fu Hustle' fame so you know it's going to be good!
    Cheers

I've had this on Sky Plus for months now. I need to find a couple of hours to sit down and watch this!

In a similar vein, I watched 24 Hour Party People again recently. Now that is a cracker!

Second, I watched In Bruges as well (for the first time in years). Still a very good film! Watching the end scene, it reminded me of scenes from Don't look now from Nicolas Roeg.

Need for Speed on Friday, only went as my young son wanted to go but actually was surprised, not just F&F style racing and CGI, actually not a bad back story and entertaining/comedic acting too, well worth a watch .
