42mm. This is the first rendering to make sure they were going down the right track, more renderings to follow with a few small tweaks.

Have never seen those hands before, do they have a story/history?

Thought things were winding down with watches for me, but then this happens. Do wonder how my Ark Royal fits in here.

Looks like you have something good in the future.

    Very nice renditions.

When are you going to start selling the invisible watch stands? You could make a fortune with those.

Personally I think the optimum size for this superb design is 39mm, but I suspect I might be in a minority.

The rendering looks good with the blued hands. Still not sure about the new sized hands, but they look less wrong in 3D - probably because the minute hand diamond appears to be the same height as the roman numerals, just offset slightly. However, it may look more correct from this angle because of parallax - to be sure, I think a few more angles are needed.

Like them both, but prefer the black hands version which is classy. Would be classier at 40mm though.

Love it! Would it make any sense to fill those hands with SL? Night time legibility would be a real plus.

I like the idea of special made hands for this watch. Just would make them delicate enough to suit the appearance and character of rest of the watch

And if blued they should be not chemicallyl blued The only way to go on a beauty of this caliber is blue heated hands 8)

I also 'thought' about the hands, but not for long. I go with the distinctive. It's actually a very good design. It's not easy to be different and not look out of place.

    +1 the blue hands rock.

Will the hands be lumed at the ends and the dial on the cardinal points, or will you go fully 'dress' and not lume at all? I'd say, go dress. It's fashionable these days.

    john
Marine chronometer numbered 4608, by Joseph Sewill. A two-day full-plate fusee movement. Four pillars, all fixed with blued steel screws. Punch-marked 5335. The fusee, with stop-work and Harrison's maintaining power, has a pipe round the winding square. Earnshaw-type spring-detent escapement. Compensation balance with helical balance spring. Mounted in three-tier box, push-catch for lid and lock for upper half. Upper half has a strut limiting opening to 90 degrees. On the front of the upper half is screwed an ivory round tablet inscribed 'Ferreira' Lisboa 1895'. The box fittings are standard, with flush handles on the sides, brass gimbals and a ratchet winding key. The push-catch and lock are surrounded by shaped brass inserts. The top of the lid has a shield-shaped plain brass insert. Inside the upper half are pasted two paper labels. The first is handwritten: 'Cleaned May 1903 H. G. Blair Cardiff' and the second is a trade label for A. Johannsen & Co. On the front of the lower half is the remains of a further pasted paper label for J Garraio & C. Silvered brass dial with Roman numerals and a large seconds dial having Arabic ten-second figures. The dial is inscribed in the centre 'J. Sewill, 30, Cornhill, Royal Exchange, London. Maker to the Admiralty'; in the seconds dial, '4608'; to left of the up-and-down dial, 'Prize medals awarded London 1862'; to right of the up-and-down dial, 'International Exhibition Paris 1867'. The up-and-down dial, below XII, is marked in Arabic numerals in 8-hour intervals up to 56 and is marked 'UP' above 0 and 'DOWN' above 56. The chronometer is in fair condition. This chronometer was used on the famous tea clipper, Cutty Sark, when she was owned by the Portuguese under the name Ferreira. Launched in 1869, Cutty Sark competed in the races from China to London to bring back the first of the season's tea each year. Later, in the wool trade, she repeatedly made the fastest passage home from Australia. In 1954, she was placed into a specially constructed dry-dock in Greenwich and opened to visitors in 1957.

I did have a look at an Arabic dial but I don't think it works as well as the Roman dial.

    Eddie
The Roman dial you have shown is the first I have ever liked, due to the proportions of the numerals, ie. tall and narrow rather than the wider shape they are usually done in.

Roman dial deserves an "imprimatur" and the design is just perfect. Congratulations Eddie, to say nothing of the incredible rendering skills!

Agreed, doesn't look right - would have to be roman or batons like Ulysse Nardins...but what I really, really want is a Sewills regulator
