Dark Brown on PVD watch seems bad
I'm looking at a brown strap (leather) for my Citizen chrono which is ION/PVD coated.
Here is a link to the watch as I posted on here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=218285
It's not on that strap anymore though.
Something with cream/white stitching but in brown.
What do you reckon, very light brown/tan/sandy colour or dark choco brown?
Either way I'd fit a pvd black buckle to it and I'd prefer a 22/22 strap as it is 22mm lugs and I already have a 22mm pvd buckle on the darlena black rubberised strap I currently have on it.
Any pics of pvd watches on brown/tan straps appreciated?
Cheers
Neil.

I'd go either black or a light, sandy colour strap.

Not too dark a brown colour. I think you want some contrast with the PVD, so a light sandy brown would be better.

Nick
Black.
I would go for a olive green NATO, this looks great on a PVD watch
Just what I was going to suggest. A classic combo and you should be able to pick one up with PVD fittings.Originally Posted by Ramses

Here you go: PVD on light brown c/o Steinhart:

does this help Neil?
I have a dark brown as well for the 292 but can't find a pic right now! I'd say I prefer the dark though.
That Steinhart strap is gorgeous.

Thanks. Some nice straps on there.Originally Posted by Raffe
I used to think that brown and black ought never to go together....but have since realized that's just crazy talk.
I'd say stick to a bit of contrast, so generally lighter to medium browns, if it's dark ie coffee then it all tends to get muddled together visually
Saddle tan?
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
I would go with a brown strap also. As to light or dark, I think both can work but it depends on what strap we are talking about. Dark brown oiled leather would look awful (tan would be just a little better, come to think of it...). But I can see a grained dark brown strap like this working well...
A fudge Toshi - i'll try and find a pic

Green NATO works well as others have said. Here's a pic of my setup on a Ray Knight PVD homage, it's a Red12 copperhead strap.

Thanks for the replies so far guys :)
I've tried holding a 20mm dark brown croco strap up to the watch and TBH it looks fine but the lighter/tan seems to be more in keeping and makes the black "pop" more?
Here are a few pics of the watch on it's current "Darlena" rubberised black strap and pvd buckle...
Just realised that I got the lug/buckle sizes wrong
The lugs are 22mm and the current Darlena stap is 22/22 with a 22mm pvd buckle.
Just need to find a nice tan strap like that Steinhart one but for under £20!!!
You want it to taper to 20mm? I'm asking because you can swap the PVD buckle to a 22/22mm but you'll probably need to buy a 20mm black PVDed one if you go with a 22/20mm. Also, the one on the Darlena looks like a 4mm pin buckle and not every strap will be able to handle that.
The Darlena is 22/22mm and the pvd buckle is 22mm.
You are correct, I think the pin is about 4mm, it is a bit of a squeeze but the strap holes just about manage it!
I don't mind a 20mm buckle end but would then have to buy another pvd 20mm buckle as the straps always come with a SS buckle and never seem to come with a pvd buckle option.
Ok, so I would suggest a BOB Marino 22/22mm. It's an excelent strap for not much money and made by Rios, probably my favourite strap brand when it comes to quality/price. They are meant as a Panerai strap replacement, so they have holes and pin spacing for a 4mm pin buckle.
Here's a photo of one of these, although mine is a 24/22:
Bad picture, but it's thye one on the left:

Hopefully no longer than 120/80 (minus buckle) but pref 115/75 (minus buckle) if they do that size?
Neil.
its the only way to go! :mrgreen:Originally Posted by VDG
