Watched that get bought from SC
Great looking watch (I do like my Breitlings) and good review. Thanks :thumbright:
REF: A17390
A firm favourite among Breitling enthusiasts worldwide.
Image.
The Breitling Steelfish (Now discontinued), is aimed at the luxury tool/diver market, as that was Breitlings original intention. The original Steelfish was 42mm in size, and used the same case shape as the SuperOcean. This model once again is a go anywhere do anything type of watch.
This watch above however, is almost identical to the 2006 model ....SuperOcean Steelfish X-Plus. The X-Plus was a transitional name used when the watch was changed from a 42mm to 44mm case in 2005, and now has been renamed back to just SuperOcean Steelfish.
Some time in 2007 also saw the introduction of a Arrow shaped second hand as opposed to the square dot style in previous years.
Movement.
Breitling uses an ETA 2824-2 movement
Runs smooth as silk with a 42 hour power reserve.
Feel.
The Glass as with all modern Breitlings is dual AR coated which makes it nigh on invisible at times, a very clean looker. Depth rating on the Breitling is 2000m. I can't imagine this watch is in reality what you'd buy for that pursuit anyway. The bracelet has no wetsuit extension link. Its a pretty heavy watch and quite thick at 16.1mm
Packaging.
Breitling is producing cracking packaging. Outer hard box, with a black Bakelite inner and even a smaller leather carry pouch too. Compartment for the instruction manual, C.O.S.C and warranty papers. Gone are the old nightmare faulty hinged boxes of the late 90's early 2000's.
You don't wear a box, so its a bit useless really, but nice to keep for that "complete package".
Overall as an everyday watch.
The Steelfish is good looking, reliable, and feels like it would take a bit of punishment if needs be.

Good review. Very nice watch
Interesting to read. Mines an earlyish 44mm with square second hand, but came on a pro 1 bracelet with pop out extension on the clasp.
A little bit chunky but a great watch - build like a tank imho.
That is a great looking watch and looks to be one of the nicer Breitlings. Thanks for posting the review.
one of the best looking diving watches from Breitling. to bad they've stopped producing it.

nice review pal, wonder why they stopped production?.
I thought the superocean steelfish was the one with the Mesh/shark bracelet? Or is that the transocean?
Yes, one of the great mysteries of the universe.Originally Posted by fordystar
