Does anyone know what the accuracy of this movement should be? I have one which had a full movement replacement in 2016 but has always run slow for me.
When I rang the service centre last year I was told anything from -10/+15 seconds per day was within tolerance.
Going to ring back tomorrow and double check as that number seems off to me.
Beautiful watch anyway and I enjoy wearing a unique branch of the Rolex lines. Such a loud ticker.

Using my Greiner Quartz Timer and micro adjusting the trimmer I was able to fine tune it down to a superlative 0.02 spd ! Will have to see over the next few weeks how it holds that though.
Fantastic watches and always feels like an occasion when I put it on. Had several over the years but just kept the best one with Mark 1 gorgeous blue dial
Accuracy should be around a couple of seconds a month for a well maintained example. I change the batteries myself and it's straightforward as long as you take your time and have the right tools. If the timing is out you can adjust using the rate trimmer once the back is off.

These have such lovely cases. Wonder if there have been thoughts for an automatic re-issue... or is the quartz part of the charm?

The 1530 (SS) and 1630 (bimetal) share the cases & bracelets, but the production run for each was smaller than the Oysterquartz. The cheapest 1530 on Chrono24 is over £7,000.

Can I ask owners, watchmakers and dealers: if you were to buy now, would you look for a mk1 or a later mk2? The former having rarity value, the latter having a movement with 20 years less wear and tear? I prefer the mk1 looks but wonder whether a newer version may offer smaller repair and maintenance bills.

I'd say go for which visually appeals the most but look for a recently serviced example, or at least one with a known service history.
I went for the 17000 because I prefer the chunkier bracelet which gives it a bit more presence and heft.

The residuals on these watches are very decent for high end quartz.
I understand the desirability of the earlier ones due to less text on the dial, but mostly I'd concentrate on the overall condition of the watch.
Mine is a later one, 1996 or so based on the serial number.

If the attraction is Rolex then fair enough but, if the interest is in HEQ per se, then you'll get better finishing and a better movement with Grand Seiko and top end Citizen. And at a much lower cost.
