    Your most accurate Automatic watch?

Just wondered what the most accurate watch people had in their collection, bar quartz of course.

I have a few autos and the best time-keeper is my Sinn U1W.....not the most expensive yet it is considerably better than the likes of GO and Rolex, normally within a second every 4 or 5 days, very impressive for a 'lowly' 2824-2 movement, however fettled!

    And yours is?

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

8500 Omega's are my most consistently accurate - I timed my older tritium 16610 sub to within a couple of seconds over 2 or 3 months - but I seriously doubt it was a consistent loss or gain ;)

the DSSD is around 2 secs a day - which is more than good enough.

The 2824 movement is a good sturdy workhorse and capable of very good accuracy in COSC terms but it is not usually a 1 sec a day performer.
It's just a matter of time...

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

My best ever (over a sixish month period) was a bog standard Citizen 8200 series in an auto I bought from Argos in 1994. It gained a second a day and lost that second at night. In all honesty, over the six months or so I wore it, it had gained two seconds or thereabouts! Not sure what would have happened if I had kept it but that's what it did whilst I owned it!

Mine too. 74 Speedmaster Moon. Gains a couple of seconds during wear and loses the same amount during 8 hours of rest.

Another 2824 - Tudor sub, with a loss of 3 seconds every 2 days.
My most accurate ever was a gmtiic which gained a second per fortnight which I found quite incredible.

Another Sinn - my EZM7. Wearing during the day and leaving overnight, it's pretty much spot on for me.

2824 here too: in a Vintage Red recently regulated by Steinhart and within a couple of seconds over the ten days I timed it for.

And my only other auto - a 2836 in a Hamilton Khaki King auto - is +2/day, which is just fine with me.

    Hi from a new member.

My most accurate auto is my 2004 14060M submariner which loses 0.5 secs/day and has done consistently since service in 2004.

My other auto is a 2001 Omega Seamaster 120M, my everyday watch which gains 3 secs/day.

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

Currently my Sub is +2 a day, my PO +5, my Smiths PRS-29B is -10 and my Everest is +3. So the Rolex by a nose. However my most easily regulated was the 2824 in my PRS-14 which was -1 a day or there abouts and +4 when left overnight face up.

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

When I had a Mkii vantage (2824), it lost 3 seconds in the first five days I wore it. My SARB059 (6R15) is currently -2s after 2days, but it seems to lose a few seconds during the day then gain a few overnight.

    (edit: spelling)

My most accurate currently is my MM300, which gains a second during the day and loses that second at night while off the wrist. My most accurate mechanical ever was a Poljot Dynamic chrono, non-auto (cal. 3133), which lost a second every five days or so.

I'll add another vote for the Omega 8500 movement - in use mine keeps well within a second or two per week - and I wear a watch 24/7.

On the winder it loses about 5 seconds a week.

Wow, mine is my new Pojot Strela with a 3133 movement too. It seems to be within a second every week - absolutely amazing!

Two previously under my ownership share the honour.
A Tutima Di300 and a PRS3, both lost a second during the day and gained it back face up overnight.

My Omega Coaxial 2500C runs +3 a day on the winder. Not validated but i believe even better on the wrist.

In my collection I would say my Breitling is the most consistent followed by my Explorer 1 and then my Cartier.

    +1 on the 8500

    never had anything as good.

probably the result of co-axial + dual barrels + latest tech in design and lubrication

The co-axial escapement is the reason I know I will eventually get an Omega of some sort...

Agree, never seem to need to adjust it, stick it on the winder and it just keeps great time.

One I built and regulated until my eyes hurt. Consistently within a second a day for four years now.

My most accurate at the moment is my CW C8 pilot. Gains about a second per day.
My old Sinn U1 was pretty accurate too, also about a second or less.

Accuracy doesn't really bother me, as long as it's between the -3/+10. Don't like my watches running slow, but don't really bother if it runs fast.

My Rolex GMT IIc. I last wore it for 18 days straight and it only lost 2 seconds in that time.

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

I have never checked any of my watches for accuracy. But I think I would notice if any of them were a mile out.

So long as I can admire the watch every time i look at it on my wrist, that is fine for me. I am usually reasonably aware of what the time is anyway. :)

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

My most accurate mechanical watch (ever) is the Omega Aqua Terra 2500 I got back from Omega service centre at the end of January. I wore it continuously after it arrived and over the next 30 days it gained a total of 25 sec, or, average of 0.83 sec/day.

People do criticize Omega Southampton service (probably with good cause) but in my case they've done an excellent job.

Seamaster Pro with the chronometer 1120 movement based upon a 2892-A2, felt like I was wearing a quartz less than a second per day error.

I have an Eterna Grande Date with a chronometer 2892-A2 which seems as good. My Longines Master GMT was within 1 second per day when new but is probably now in need of a service (ETA 2824-2). I suspect it's got a chronometer grade movement in all but the name.

    Your most accurate Automatic watch?

My newest arrival - Grand Seiko spring drive - bought end of March, despite a few weekends in the watch box and in rotation with other watches - it has gained one second until today.

The most accurate auto I ever owned was a Seamaster ''JamesBond'' with a blue dial.

It was brought new and used to lose only 4 seconds per month.

Perhaps it is just luck then as to whether the watch has been regulated properly....there doesn't seem to be any pattern in the replies. Expensive or cheap, how it is maintained could be most important?

    Just playing 'Devil's Advocate' ......... :D

Like in hi-fi, a lower spec LP12 could outperform a higher one if set up properly.....(well known Turn-table, for those who don't know it)....I've heard the dem.

Re: Your most accurate Automatic watch?

Perhaps you will not believe me, but my most accurate is a hand-wound Longines 17 jewels from the late 50-es I got from my Dad. It is simple-looking gold-plates 14m, very modest from any point. Gaining about 3 sec a week when I do not wear all the time (but I keep in different positions), and about 15 secs a week when constantly on my wrist. Simply beautiful!

My PO ist my most accurate watch ever...it simply has no variation at all...100% spot on.
One of the reasons, if not the one reason I am not selling as I am fascinated day after day.

    Hi

Along with a lot of folk here who have purchased from Bill @ MKII, the Blackwater and Quad II I have are the most accurate autos I have ever had.

I know Bill is not the fastest at getting stuff out the door or emails... this must be the reason why .??

I have two I would pick out as superb timekeepers, my Planet Ocean 2500 which is still only gaining around +3 per week on average and my 1960s Russian built handwind Sekonda which was my Dad's. So, yes I believe you dingo!
