    Lets see your SBIII's (PRS-22)

    Especially the black dial.

I hear it is well respected on here but see very little of it in picture form etc..... so lets see em! :)

How do they compare against Sinn/Damasko etc......accuracy? Build quality? VFM?
Would you choose one over a Smiths Everst? or a Sinn 556/556A or DA36?
Are they apples and oranges or fairly similar "competitors"?

    I'll start then...

I used to own this one...

... and was very happy with it for a while. I particularly liked the bracelet - unrivalled at the price point and just lovely.

I ended up selling it for a couple of reasons: I had (and still have) a Stowa Flieger which in my view trumps the SBIII in terms of dial design. It also ran about 20 seconds fast a day - something that, had I loved it enough, I could have had regulated. But I didn't so I didn't and I ended up selling it.

No experience of the Damasko or Sinn, I'm afraid. Isn't a DC36 a Dyson?

    Hi!

I'd be glad to hear your opinions too, since i'm considering a sinn 556 or a sbiii.

Not owned a SBIII, but I did a review of the 556 and DA36, and came up with the Omega Dynamic as the winner.

It would be a good idea to retrospectively compare the SBIII - the only thing I don't like is the 'sterile' dial without branding.

    Do GMTs count?

I owned one of the LEs, which I owned and liked for a while, then flipped it, then bought it back, then flipped it again

Ultimately, I came to realise that it was the sterile dial I didn't quite get on with so when the GMT I snapped one up and loved it.

Then for some strange reason that evades me I flipped it and regretted it straight away. So now I've just bought another (anyone detect a pattern here? :D ) which hasn't left my wrist since I received it. Don't have a pic of the new yet but here's the old one:

Used to have an SB3 and I must say I thought the size and quality were first rate and the bracelet especially was just superb. Timekeeping also was first class.
Sadly gone now but not forgotten.

Picture with a DA36 (actually the Damasko is slightly larger but as the SB is sitting on its bracelet it's nearer the camera so looks bigger).

Have had 2 (1 was an LE) but I couldn't get on with the sterile dial in the end.

I have one and especially like the sterile dial - it makes other dials seem awfully cluttered once you get used it. Without branding people have no clue how expensive it is and can judge the watch on its own merits, I like that.

The dial is also supremely easy to read accurately, the hands are great and lack of clutter and distraction help this. To my mind it would be better if more watches were made like this rather than cluttering up their dials with nonsensical allusions to undeserved associations.

I've always wanted one of these and will probably post a WTB for it in a few weeks. The sterile dial is a plus for me and I've only heard positive things about the bracelet. Does anyone know whether I can get a red-tipped second hand version like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LhALri_PuU ?

While looking for something else I found this ol' pic of my gone 22 on gunmetal. I thought it looked handsome.

Love the slightly austere sterile dial. Not that Eddie's other watches don't. but the SBIII oozes quality.

Thanks for providing this opportunity to post this old photo yet again...

I have the Everest as well and if I were forced to choose between them I'd take the SBIII.

If it had any name on the dial, half of the respondents in this thread would have kept it, and it would have sold 300 more.....

This is mine. It's chronometer No 33 and it's for sale.

It's a stunning watch, but I have a GMT which I dot wear enough and this just gets no wrist time.

    Beautiful.

OK so it's official I want one! As soon as I can sell or trade my 556 currently on SC.
    Whats the timekeeping like?
I've heard that +20 per day is the norm and don't think I'd be happy with that as my 556 is doing +4?
Are they easy to regulate ourself or would a watchmaker be best used?

    Here's some help :

    viewtopic.php?f=1&t=131337
    viewtopic.php?f=17&t=118373

I got my example down to -2 sec / 24hr.

    Good luck :)
