Nutz about old Rolex boxes..! (Modem-melter!!)

Spring cleaning through my filing cabinet... my collection of antique Rolex boxes lives on the top shelf. Enjoy!

    Unpacking them...

    Cleared some shelf-space...

Aah, so that's why they're called coffin boxes... like little tombstones!

    Anyone for "jenga"..?

There's probably the price of a couple of decent Rolexes in tatty old cardboard there alone!

One day, I'll try to take some pictures with the watches IN the boxes!!

Very impressive Mike, is there any single one which is particularly valuable?

    Hi Eddie,

The Rolex Prince watch boxes are probably the most valuable and sought after boxes. They start at about £300 and go up to £1,000, although it is very rare that they appear for sale.

I particularly like the red velvet boxes. A lot of these originate from Canada, and date from the 1940's. Value-wise, around £200-400.

Ladies' watch boxes don't tend to sell for as much as gents' boxes... too few lady-collectors?

    Marvellous collection Mike. :)

I've had a couple of old brown sarcophagus types in the past.

What would have been in them out of interest?
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Feck me Mike what a collection of boxes, just beautiful especially if there are watches that fit in each one smugly.

I believe these were for Oyster Perpetual Chronometers from late 1940's to early 1950's...

    My goodness!

A very impressive, complete collection. It's hard to comprehend that this is even more complete than the sub collection??? Is that possible? Do all the Subs have boxes too? Surely not...

Don't get him going - a wet Easter Monday and no batteries or straps to change, could be dangerous !!

What an unbelievable collection! There's a watch dealer in Singapore with a Chinese cabinet 7ft high packed full of boxes that I've been trying to buy for years.

Not sure how many are in there but must be well over 50. The last time I saw him he offered them all to me for $6000 (including the cabinet) - which probably wasn't a bad deal...

After twenty two years of obsessive Rolex collecting, I'm still short of a few boxes to house watches, so I've gone a bit deaf to the pleas my thread has generated

    Truly epic.

I look at your website every now and again, where some of the watches you sell and the museum pieces you have are amazing. But how do you decide what to keep and what to sell?

Do you have a favourite? And would this favourite be worn?
