    Smiths Everest

    Ok, enough of the Rolex/Omega/Bremont/Etc. threads - time for something closer to home;

I bought a couple of these the other day (on a friends card) for a good friend and his dad - I felt comfortable in recommending the watches and thankfully they were delighted when the turned up today.

I know there are probably quite a few pics out there of them now - but they are looking for something in relation to straps and natos etc which they might put them on. So if you have a pic you want to share please do.

This is one watch I know I will own at some stage - I like the Stealth Everest on the dial, which is very subtle - a bit like Roland's Octopus diver - but better 8)

Weight felt nice - domed crystal looked great and overall for the short time I had it in my hands this lunchtime I thought it looked incredible value for money.
It's just a matter of time...

Happy to help, although not up to Tony's standards, here are my Smiths on DiModell tan jumbos.

I have to say though, while the Everest looks good on a wide variety of straps, the original bracelet is a joy.

^^ That looks superb on the leather.
I just wish the Everest had a date... :?

    Re: Smiths Everest

Original bracelet too chunky for me. NATOs too thin and insubstantial given bulk of watch. I like this strap...a Globalwatchband.com Hadley-Roma Self-Lined Genuine Leather in brown. Doesn't cost too much and gives some warmth and old skool feel to the watch...go on, treat yourself!

But any good thick leather looks great. I love NATO on most things, but I couldn't get on with one on the Everest, don't know why.

My favourite Precistsa and one of my favourite watches, simply the best value for money watch I own.

Thank you so much guys - some great shots there and I am sure Paul and his dad will have some good ideas for how they want to wear their new Everest watches.

For the life of me, I still don't know why I haven't bought one of these. That pic on the grey NATO sold the watch to me many moons ago as I personally don't like the look of this on the bracelet

If and when I get one, a grey NATO will have to be coming along with it

Just an excellent watch - personally I do prefer it on the bracelet.

But looks great on a wide range of straps.

The best seller has been the PRS-18Q. Recently Mr Flatt has been shifting some serious numbers. It fact he has been so busy he is refusing deliveries of ready watches until April to give him a chance to catch up. :bom: :D

    Me too, to be honest.

If I wasn't severely spent up, I would ordering one - but I have to tax two cars and two motorbikes this month, along with tyres and serving for a couple of them! :(

Got nr. 182 yesterday evening and I'm greatly impressed. Was terrified that lug-to-lug distance would be a problem on my small wrists but so far so good.
Keeping it on bracelet for now, it was a hard task to adjust it - my fault I must say. No pictures yet.

    Where can I get one!?

I can sense several new strap purchases are imminent.

I foresee that in the long run this could end up being Eddie's bestest seller. I don't know why, but the market always seems to want an acrylic Exp1 tribute. Why deny him the sales? I feel it is much better having the name of Smiths out-there, than treasured by the few (as per Dreadnought :( ) .

I agree with both. A limited initial run would have been great followed up by a mainstream example - in fact I would use this marketing for all products, as has been done on a few previous PRS watches - the initial runs had something different PRS20LE for example and then the ordinary or spin off models.

This would satisfy the real enthusiasts/collectors of PRS/Smiths watches, as well as those that just see nice looking watches at very good value for money.

Love the Everest AND the 29b, but my ideal would be the auto movement in the 29b form factor. Auto and glass. Not 'originial' I know - and against the spirit of the effort put in creating these watches - but I live in hope.

I must admit that is starting to grow on me. A little like the Citizen Promaster I used to own, it appears to look great not matter what type of strap you put on it.

No 11 just arrived and off to have the bracelet resized

Poor quality shot, but shows off the curve of the glass and the distortion of the numbers very nicely.
