For me it would have to be this one, a JLS Memovox Polaris (Tribute/re-issue), Simply stunning.
I have a pretty good idea of which IWC I would get but wonder which Jaeger LeCoultre you will get if it is your next purchase? I know they both belong to the Richemont group, but many consider Jaeger to be more a watch manufacturer. So what will it be?
:o

In my opinion, the Reverso and the Ultra Thin are the most iconic JLC watches not astronomically priced. If it were me, an 8-day Reverso or an Ultra Thin 38mm or Moonphase.
i would go for a master compressor chrono 2
What do people feel about the Squadra, compared to the classic reverso?
:)
+1 amazing watch.Originally Posted by Billyloves2boogie

Between the classic reverso and the squadra, I'm more into the classic one, the shape is more subtle in my eyes.
I had money to blow in a Jaeger LeCoultre, I would go for a memovox.

You haven't mentioned what type of watch you would like, or where you will be wearing it, so if it's a formal/dress watch then yes a Reverso Grande 976 would be ideal but if it's a sports watch, the Deep Sea vintage would get my vote:
If sports: indeed this one. If classic: the reverso...
+1 for the UT (but the 34mm flavour); but surely depends what your budget is .. ? At least a couple of times in the last year they've popped up on chrono24 for 1.7K; which seems a good deal. Reverso prices seem very strong indeed, even for quartz..
As the current keeper of one that might be familiar to at least one reader ( :) ), I'd have the UT - as it's a newer version of this fella http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=187765 which I picked up last year. Which seems to be a vintage ref.1901 as it bears a striking resemblance to http://jlc.watchprosite.com/?show=fo...&ti=753568&s=0 ..
Depends on budget/preference. JLC make a wide range of styles./prices - all are pretty much excellent.
Which IWC are you considering?
The Longines Legend Diver is a lookalike of the Longines Diver, a reissue. Just like the above is a reissue of a JLC watch. The originals both using another case manufacturers patented design. Oh, and the Longines was released first.Originally Posted by waiteu2

It was down to the Portuguese chrono, Portuguese 7 days power reserve or the Portofino handwound! I like the chrono in rose gold but have reservation about having no date and the dial layout! :bom:
For me it would be the Aston Martin limited edition AMVOX in titanium, they are really fantastic watches.

If looking for a JLC, would have to be the Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph they launched at Geneva last month.

It'd be,
- a clean dial Reverso of some sort on leather strap
- an Ultra Thin on bracelet
- a Master Compressor of some sort on strap.
I've developed a fatal attraction to The Master Compressor Chrono 2 over the past few weeks or so. Safe to say I have a new grail.
Having said that, JLC have a fantastic range at the moment - so much to choose from. IMHO the best range of all the major manufacturers.
If you don't have it already, you should order the JLC catalogue through their website. It's despatched really quickly and is very well put together.
Gyrotoubillon maybe?! I love the Deep Sea vintage so it would be either that or a duometre.
Ah! My thread arrives! I have six at present having sold my Grand Taille as I added a Reverso GMT to the collection. Buy right, by which I mean with a stonking discount, and there's not better out there in terms of heritage, movement and overall lust-factor! But I'm biased
I have the 1968 Polaris as well as the marmite Navy Seal Alarm..... A great twosome in the Memovox range in my opinion
If, as I will, I was buying another it would be a rose gold 1931 reverso or, at the other extreme a rose gold duometre a quantieme lunaire.....a watch I really lust after!
Given the choice between those two, I'd go for the Reverso in ultra thin guise. However, given the choice from the whole JLC range the watch that appeals to me most is the Moon Ultra Thin 39mm.Originally Posted by tim2012

I want a Reverso for my 40th but the reality is my favourites are too big (Grand Duo), too small (Duo) or perfectly sized but too busy and with buttons (Grande GMT)
And again... lost count, but this thing is so nice its almost silly !Originally Posted by Billyloves2boogie

What about the Reverso Ultra Thin? It's, well, thin, but somewhere between the Grande Duo and the Duo in height/width.Originally Posted by Rob

If you're looking for a luxury diver, the Master Compressors are fantastic. More formal, the Master Geographic is classy but complicated. If you want a real dress watch the Ultra-thin.
If you compare with many other brand, you get so much for your money with JLC.
What got me interested in the Reverso back in 1998 was the two faces....the Ultra Thin and 1931 Tribute are just a little meh with their single dialOriginally Posted by spluurfg
the reverse ultra thin is the iconic piece but my heart somehow prefers the Master Control Ultra Thin Moon 39 for roughly the same amount of money. The perpetual calendar is nice too.
I'm very inlikely to buy another JLC for a while, but I'd love one of these.

Deep sea vintage is very tempting. Any guess to the price?
If I could afford that, I'd probably go after a different JLC and stick with the Longines. The Legend is very near the top of my WTB list and I actually prefer it to the JLC looks-wise. There also appears to be something of an FF homage going on there as well, but for that money I could have an FF too!Originally Posted by waiteu2

here it says "...with a rumored price point above $10,000."Originally Posted by tim2012
Guess it will be around that price, thanks. However it will not a limited edition!
I like the classic master control series. This is my old watch, the geographic. The blue hands are lovely... and clearly beyond my ability to capture in a photo.
Reverso all the way for me. I am currently trying to decide between a Classique (38mm lug to lug) or a Grande Taille (42mm lug to lug).
The classique, although small by todays standards, is closer to the original Reverso aesthetic in both size and dial design. It's also a lot thinner than the Grande Taille and as I want it as a dress watch it appeals more. However, the Grand taille has a presence that the Classique lacks..........decisions decisions!!
Either way a Reverso is the next purchase.

I'm weak for the Reverso line... Wouldn't mind owning one!
Have owned three JLC before and am still keeping two. Now very much lusting for an Amvox2. The vertical trigger chronograph is geneous.
I like this one. Entry level GMT The 24 hour hand is a skeleton hand that can be hidden behind the hour hand when not needed. And at 41 x 13 the perfect size for me.
I also like the Navy Seals.
as the Polaris is getting a lot of attention I'm going to post these shots again!
IWC in a JLC thread? :scratch:Originally Posted by tim2012

I have seen the modern Polaris and it is a beautifully balanced watch. Probably the best balanced watch I have ever seen. And that is saying something.
