    Re: Friday!

Needed a watch that is ok to take skating in freezing conditions, with high probability of falling. So I borrowed this one from this friendly fellow. Stuck it on a Di Modell Chronissimo for extra warmth, though.

    Re: Friday!

Vintage Omega... first time I have post it here. An E-Bay problem watch... arrived not working and after a real struggle to get some money back I decided to try and get it back to life with the help of Russell Talerman. Now keeping great time, but the watch is referred to as 'crazy tick'... kinda sweeps for a bit of the minute, ticks for a bit of it and stutters for the rest - but we get the minute done and still bang on time!
So another dead watch back to life looking good!!

    Cheers.

I have a vintage Omega which does that. I think of the seconds hand as doing a rumba around the dial. It is a result of the seconds being of the indirect type (independent of the drive train), and the spring resting against the seconds staff not being quite stiff enough (a function of age, and fiddly to get right.

    Best wishes,
    Bob

Thanks for that Bob... nice to know the reason behind its crazy path. It is quiet entertaining to watch!
