    Show me your Bullhead chrono's?

I have long been attracted to the bullhead layout chronographs, but never actually owned one.

The Omega is very cool, but quite pricey  . I narrowly missed out on this Rodiana that Neil at Chronomaster once had up...

    http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/B175_Rodania_3.jpg

The Bulova is :drunken: and very 8) but also few and far between. This is the one that first grabbed my attention:

    http://www.watchestobuy.com/images/BulovaBullhead4b.JPG

I know there are Brietling and Siccura models and a pretty cool looking fibreglass cased Tissot.

Then the Seiko and Citizen's that seem quite popular...

Please can you post up pics of those you have, it would be great to get some info about how they wear, build quality, pros and cons etc from your experiences with one?

    Thanks,

    Rob

This is the most of my bullheads.

The Sicura is identical with the Omega´s, except the inside turning bezel with crown at 6.
This one and the Omega is very bulky to wear and my quest to get one Omega thats overpriced has vanished.

Re: Show me your Bullhead chrono's?

    Thanks chaps!

The oval Sorna with the offset sub dials looks great, and the pink sub dials on the Citizen are :drunken: .

Loving the Seiko's, can anybody tell me how they wear on the wrist? Does anyone have a wrist shot of a Seiko on a 7.5" wrist?

But Hans' Sicura tops the bill for me 8) .

Like the Rodiana I linked to at the top, and as Hans says, same as the Omega except for the internal bezela and 6 O'Clock crown... Does anyone know of any other branded watches that share this case design?

Hans - has the quest for the Omega vanished becuase of how the watch wears, was it a dissapointment?

Many thanks, to all who have posted, keep 'em coming, it's much appreciated!

I've got a few Seiko's, here's a minty brown one with its UFO cousing

And one in slightly more everyday condition

Here's a case I'm restoring at the moment, it started off like this

I've made a jig to mount it to my lathe, and quickly turn that beaten old case into this

I do have black/blue as well, but no pics at the moment.

Here's mine with all original case

In-house movement in this age of "manufattura"

Column wheel chrono, just like the Daytona & unlike every other chrono of similar vintage.

Pristine examples cost about 3-5% of a Rolex Daytona of similar vintage

Wears great due to size (40-41mm).

Bit of a novelty, but not really practical to use the chrono...just a bit awkward

Built like a tank, as all Seikos are but hard to get serviced because 1. Hard to find parts 2. "Not worth servicing because it's a Seiko"! As told to me by a local watchmaker, probably more of an excuse to cover a lack of ability.

Re: Show me your Bullhead chrono's?

Thanks Hans for the PM, all replied to..... Forgot to ask, do you (or does anyone) know if the Siccura was made with a steel finish?

I have now seen the Rodiana and Sicurra in the same case, does anyone know if anyone else used the case?

I like the Seiko, and have nothing against the brand, but would like a bit more unusual bullhead, any more info on the Bulova would be really appreciated. 8)

    Cheers all,

    Rob

Re: Show me your Bullhead chrono's?

    OK I am hooked

Can I get a bit of advice please

I am blown away by the Sorna Jacky Ickx Bullhead and there are a couple for sale on flea bay.

There is one for sale from the UK but it says this

i would suggest a service with this watch because when you press the pusher to start the white second hand it works and then just stops when it feels like it thus stopping the watch.if you leave the second hand set at zero all the time the watch runs fine this is because its been in a collection for a long time and not been used much

Here is a link to the sale

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ULTRA-RARE...#ht_500wt_1202

Would this cause any alarm bells to ring? Any idea what a service on one of these would cost?

Thanks again for the thread. I was all set to but a Sumo diver but I am sure I have found my next watch

    Cheers

    Graham

Re: Show me your Bullhead chrono's?

    Here's mine

It's a 69, serviced by Omega quite recently and always makes me smile when I wear it.

I think I'll get it out tomorrow and give it a spin as it's been a while.

I also have the black leather strap with the crown hole but much prefer it on the 1171.

I really like the design of the 1970's Omega, especially the colourful models and this is the best of the bunch in my opinion.

    Cheers Chris

    Hello Graham,

Please bear in mind that these watches have a very cheap pin pallet EB movement. I don't know about availability of spares and it may just need a clean/reset but I would get the Sumo personally. Far better quality.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

It was a limited edition release in Japan. It's basically the citizen 2100 rotated 90 degrees.

Here is a great review of them by Pete W (reprinted on another forum given that his website, gmt+9, is down):

    http://www.philippinewatchclub.org/foru ... 37&p=28999

Here's another Takuya speedmaster, shame that you can't use the chrono unless the case is tilted up.

Thanks for the info Lenny, I enjoyed reading the review.....

Off to do some Googling about the Citizen, although with only 500 of the blue dial I'll not be holding my breath about availability or cost!
