    Let's see your watch storage.

I'm looking to get a better watch box and am after a bit of inspiration. It would be great to see what you use no matter what budget or how it was improvised.

to answer your question, I buy Banda type cases for the watches and pop them into the safe when not on the wrist

Yes, definitely something which will fit in the safe. Other than that, just any box which will keep the watches from banging into each other.

Well it's easy - my watch storage is a small safe, hidden away. And all my watches live in individual taco style pouches (have featured on SC a number of times) in the safe to prevent them being knocked about. A box on show invites theft!

I needed a tall box for the G-Shock, with wide slots for Eddies 55mm submersible.
This one came up trumps at £26 delivered from the bay.

    Let's see your watch storage.

I used to have loads of those clear Spec Savers glass cases they put in the bucket outside their shops for you to take.

At one stage that where my watches stays... Until I get sick of the messy-ness...

A timely topic, as I'm in exactly the same position. I don't want to use the original boxes that most of my watches came in, so that they stay in original condition.

I'm also looking to buy a safe in the next month or so, but I do like the idea of having my watches in a nice quality display box for when I want to appreciate them or choose that day's watch. I would put my watches in the safe while out or away, but would be happy to leave them out when at home (we have a couple of large dogs in the house who are very protective, no burglar in his right mind would break in while we are at home).

Originally I was looking at a 10 or 12 watch, single layer box with glass lid, but taking the safe/burglar point on-board, perhaps two or three 5 watch boxes would be better that can go straight into the safe?

John Lewis sell a couple of nice leather-covered watch boxes that aren't that big physically, but hold up to five watches. They are ideal for use in a safe as the box itself isn't too large. They hold a good sized watch too, anything under 50mm inc.crown will fit alongside each other without rubbing (despite the 'review' on the JL website link below).

I have got a cheapo aluminium / perspex 12 watch box from Ebay but it is fairly small and watches >36mm touch each other, got also a leather covered 6 watch one (2x3) and an another wooden one (1x6) both of these are great but not sure where they came from as they were presents. ANyway, they're all full now!

Yeah, that's the sort of size I was thinking of, possibly with a glass top. So if I work on about H10cm x W30cm x D12cm, that will do to spec out the sort of safe I need.

    Cheers.

Something slightly different but I use pre-cut camera case foam (like this) in a draw to store some of my watches in. Simply cut to size and remove foam to create slots for watches.

Would post pics but it's G-Shocks and I now that'll upset some ;)

I strongly recommend you get one, mind you if you're lucky it could be one of the worst investments you'll ever make; on the other hand if you're unlucky it could be the best investment you'll ever make; unless you're really unlucky of course in which case they'll just steal the safe as well

Re: Let's see your watch storage.

Well, I live in a relatively small city in Finland, and I can tell you that I've heard that burglaries happen, but I have never ever had anyone in my family or friends experience one.

After writing this one I'm sure some Romanian gang will clean the houses next week... :D

I keep my watches in a Rapport watch box in my study.

Re: Let's see your watch storage.

I use small three watch storage boxes manufactured by Hillwood - they come in a variety of different wood finishes and can be had pre-owned on e-bay or the SC for around £50. The small size also makes them easy to store in a safe.

I keep my watch box inside my safe, kind of defeats the point really but its nice to have all my watches in the same box!

I bought a cutlery box from a charity shop for £10, pulled out the interior, lined it with felt from a craft shop and made dividers from balsa. Total cost I think £36.

The problem is that I went and filled it...

    2 of these:

...and 2 of these (same thing but a 4 watch configuration)

They look nice and are good enough for me. They were all pretty cheap, bought them all on some Amazon deal. The most expensive watch I own is something that costs around €700, so I guess these are perfectly adequate for the job.

BTW, that's a push in button lock, not a magnetic one.

 there's a few quid tied up in the whole lot, however I'm not overly worries about being targeted by an International gang of watch burglars.

But why does your converted cutlery box have a Mappin & Webb plaque on it? :?:

Why thank you. Although you'll note I didn't take any close-up pics!

I imagine Mappin and Webb used to sell cutlery. They possibly still do.

Have 2 Zeugma cases that takes most of the collection,

The compartment inside can easily be taken out for storage in the safe,

And if so desired the case can be used as a briefcase.

Well, another good thing about the navy blue boxes is that they don't seem to run out of stock, when they do Amazon gets more. So if you change your mind about the number of watches, you can always get more or bigger boxes to match.
