It's easier to make than a hamburger, with vegetables, or tuna, minced meat, cheese... minutes, no more.

Thanks - I realise it's probably straightforward (although obviously the problem is that the internet always seems to offer too many variations) but I'd prefer to try it in some kind of specialist place first so I know what I'm copying. I've started to have a look round in Berlin for somewhere that may have it on the menu - I'd prefer some kind of North African greasy spoon but it wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being a hipster street food emporium (though we have a, completely non-pretentious, French crepe guy on one of our Saturday markets who I will definitely speak to about it next time I see him).

Have you got a link to a picture of a brick? I now realise that sort of the point is that you cook it with a weight in the pan, and originally people used a brick, but some of the videos just seem to involve some kind of basic flattening in preparation (but not in a Schnitzel way!).

I think that it is more commonly spelled 'Brik' and is usually simply fried in a pan. Have a look at the history and recipe here:

    http://roadsandkingdoms.com/2016/brik/

I like the version with harissa.

I've just scrolled rapidly down the updated threads and misread 'Brexit is Dead' directly above 'Bruno is a hero!' as 'Bruno is Dead'.

Apparently, the ECO mode in the XF does make a difference !

I'm impressed - for such a big car.

(Although it has taken me about 12 months before I decided to activate it )

That used to happen at work for a while. He was nicknamed 'The Phantom Bogey Flicker' because some of them were at such height it is the only way they could have got there. Impossible to catch these people though.
Still that is not so bad as some people at the moment who clearly have difficulty getting things in the toilet rather than all over the floor. There seems to be no concept of cleaning up after yourself for some.

I am sitting twiddling my fingers (well.... browsing TZ-UK) waiting for Medequip to come and take away one bed and deliver another with rails. First of all it was "after 1pm". Then I got a text saying that it would be between 17:30 and 19:30. I should really be tidying or doing something more useful. Ho hum.

    ** edit **

It is now 19:30 and they are not yet here. I am hungry. Will they come today at all or will it be postponed until tomorrow? The office is closed so I can't actually ask. Hmm...

Should I go and visit my mum in hospital now or wait?

Do we need to send you food parcels? But seriously hope you got sorted out, sounds like you've got enough stress already.

Food parcels are always gratefully received! ;-)

They did turn up around 8pm, did the work quickly, at which point I discovered that the rails were not quite what my mum would be expecting. But desperation was setting in so I did not complain. Went off to hospital, saw mum, was told mum would be ejected from hospital at 3pm, came home, slept. Was called in morning and told no, it's now 2pm. At 12:10 I got a call saying "she's just left". Agghh! Just time to get the air mattress on the new bed pumped up. ;-)

Just discovered a wasp lurking inside the shoe I was about to put on. Fortunately it was sluggish with the cold and so I could dispatch him without difficulty. It's a bit early in the year for the stripey wee roasters, isn't it?

As I understand it, it's usually queen wasps who come in to hibernate over winter - and they are huge. Twice the size of a male.
I remember being nine years old and home from school for lunch. I went up to my room for whatever (it was a very long time ago), sat on my bed and one of these massive wasps flew and landed on the knot of my tie. I sat petrified then screamed for my mother!

It was a damn big wasp. Looked about an inch long and took two flushes before it disappeared down the u bend. Absolutely fearful looking creature.

I told the woman trying to sign me up for a market research event in Waitrose that I wouldn't be available on that day as I was flying to the United Arab Emirates.

I'm not and have no idea why I said it. It just came out. Perhaps I'm developing an odd kind of Tourette's.

I've just discovered the Kindle app for iPhone, and was delighted to find that in downloading it my previous purchases can be synced to my mobile. Why it's taken me so long to do so I do not know.

Now I understand why the majority of London in transit is bathed in the glow of digital information, in a vacuum of their own doing, oblivious to all around. They are learning!

Unless of course they are on (un)social media.

Both the iPad and Android Kindle apps are much better than the Kindles themselves, and I splashed out for one of the stupidly dear ones, in a moment of stupidity. Well made though.

On a similar note, I've found their Music Unlimited service and matching app to be really good as well. Tried both it and Spotify Premium on the months free trial but went with the Amazon choice as I liked the interface. Plus it just works seamlessly with the Echo. So a thumbs up all around.
