I'm sat next to somebody on the train who is completing a multiple-choice question paper on large volume, fixed depth disposal slides for post-vasectomy semen analysis.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I just ordered the last 11 examples in stock of a certain item from a particular online vendor. Now that my order has been accepted and processed, I looked at the stock level and it shows 9 in stock! Where did they come from?

It's odd. If they really do have more I'd have bought them, had they been shown as in stock.

For a while, I thought 'basically' was going to be the new 'literally', but judging by my 10 year old, it's going to be 'seriously'.

Thanks. It's good to know these things. One wouldn't want to appear to be out of touch when conversing with the youngsters of today.

Wow, no threads on England's World Cup performance - thanks to Suarez 2-1 England scoreline last night.

Seems World Cup Fever never really caught hold this time even before the tournament and now it looks like it won't at all :-(

Neither. Social media in the way it's used mostly is a canker on society. It really is.

Today I felt well-enough to shave - for the first time in six days. It hurt.

I bought a new iron today. Bewildering choice.
In the absence of any knowledge on the subject & no "which iron?" Threads in G&D, I opted for one with loads of stickers... and a 3 year guarantee.

We bought a steam generator iron. Best iron my wife's ever had.

Nevertheless, a good choice. The default "bloke" option - if it's black and has more stickers on it, then it's the best choice. Obviously, not as good a choice as buying clothes which never need ironing, although anyone who needs to wear a more formal shirt for work knows that when Marks and Spencer* tell you that their shirts are "non-iron" or "ultimate non-iron" they are, actually, lying.

*Other lying purveyors of clothing which allegedly does not require ironing are available.

I hate ironing, which is a real shame as my wife and kids hate it more than me (bribery and tears won't work on them)... It's getting too hot for v necks and cardigans :(

Just cracked my toe on one of the bed castors and took the top of it off. The bedroom looks like a scene from superlative French horror 'Martyrs'.

Never, ever buy Heinz Worcestershire Sauce.

It's appalling stuff, more like the radioactive orange sweet and sour sauce from a Chinese takeaway. And there's an aftertaste of garlic.

I heard that Gerry Conlan (Guilford 4) died...

I have his velvet underground and Nico album, (the one with the banana on it)

A neighbour in North London gave it to me many years ago (along with his copy of the soundtrack to easy rider)... He gave them to her a few years before

Gerry Conlan had good taste in music

Will Samantha make an appearance though?

Apparently, there have been complaints about the overtly sexist nature of references to Samantha in the show. Really. I heard this on Radio 4, so it must be true.

That's just what you want over breakfast - a live harp duo with keyboard combination. On a more positive note, the orange juice is delicious.

Just received a tax refund for the princely sum of £26.
Which pleases me disproportionately - when considering the thousands I actually pay in tax.

Hah - had a bit back earlier in the year and today paid a demand for £32 for NICs. Why can't different departments of HMRC talk to each other?

Something I learned yesterday was that a Google image search of "Venezuelan beaver cheese" isn't the best move in an open plan office. On a more re-assuring note I think I found some this morning at the breakfast buffet.

All those years ago, my interest in watches began with a quartz.

Now I've found another quartz watch I'm smitten with, I may just flog everything else off.
