Once again... breathtaking !!!!!! :drunken:
Grab your surfboard, a grass skirted tanned Hawaiian hottie, a beer and lets keep the 70's Heuer bad-assery vibe going.
Let me introduce you to a watch that makes me smile.. a lot. A king of Heuers, the Blue Silverstone, this particular one sourced from the sun bleached shores of Hawaii.
The successor to the Monaco, the Silverstones were only in production for a short time. The colour is amazing.. a deep metallic blue that changes from dark to mid blue when it catches the light. The dial is actually brushed (12 to 6 direction), it's very light, but gives a wonderful effect. Worn by the Swiss racing driver Clay Regazzoni and charismatic GP Motorbike Street racer Mike Hailwood.
What is a massive bonus is that this has a sapphire crystal.. yep, I said sapphire. If you scratched an original mineral glass, it was a big dent in your wallet. Finding a NOS glass in almost impossible, and if you do, it'll cost an arm & a leg. So the only way to get it fixed would be to send the watch to TAG Heuer, who would fit a glass (if they have any left) and insiste on a full service.. so probably the best part of £4-500.
I fellow collector, Rob, has set up a new business buying/selling top end Heuers, and he's spent (I think in conjunction with Rich - the Monaco king) a considerable amount of time getting replacement Mineral & Sapphire crystals manufactured, and they are perfect, I can't tell the difference.
You can buy them on his new site: http://www.nakaiwatch.com/ Just don't drool too much looking at his stock!!
oh, and a big-up to James for fitting it -thanks again bud :thumbleft:
Anyway...e nough waffle.. lets crack on with seeing this ice cool beauty, (in case you were wondering - it's on an aftermarket oyster, which I prefer to the original  )..
Once again... breathtaking !!!!!! :drunken:
Perfection 8)
Some great photos there. That's a very stylish watch indeed.

Nick
Sumptuous. You have exquisite taste, sir.
Wow, the watch, the pics - just amazing.
Cheers,
Andy
Quality Stewart, so you'll not be wanting this red jobbie back then??
The Heure's have invaded TZ-UK. :bounce:
Sweeet! That bracelet really sets it off too.
Great grandson approves.
The blue on the dial is far nicer on the original.
I've gotta admit, that's not a bad re-issue though. :thumbleft:Originally Posted by Optimum

That is stunning! I love these Silverstones.....
Of all the watches I've seen pictured on tz.. That's the one I'd kill for.
(hypothetically. Literally maybe a girlie swat but you get my point)
Hi Stewart
Great find and stunning pictires really show the beauty of that dial. The Blue Silverstone are the hardest to find so you have done well with this one.
The Heuer bug has certainly taken hold. I recognise the symptoms. I'm sure you get a lot of joy from the collection.

Cheers Paul. This one is one of my favs, maybe top of the pile. You're right about finding one with a good dial. Rich (Monaco Man) was saying that many can suffer from fade, and to get a deep blue example is difficult. My collection is quite rounded now.. with the exception of Carreras. I have a barrel, but not a traditional Carrera.Originally Posted by PaulG

Talking of photography.. I'm particularly pleased with the 'white' photos.. they came out great first time. I've always used a dark backdrop, so this was a bit of a test. I just used a white t-shirt and shot away. I had to correct the white balance in photoshop (I can't adjust the balance on my camera), as it came out a little grey, but apart from that, the were bang on first time. I'm looking forward to using other light backgrounds in future.
Very very ugly. I'm not in the least jealous...
