New Omega SMP 300 - Release?

My AD wasn't very helpful (or knowledgeable) on this but is it out yet? If not, when?

    Thanks

If you got to goldsmiths website (link below), there stating delivery in 1 to 5 days. £2700 to buy and on interest free credit. Although whether they have them in store is another matter. Must admit im warming to it, i do like the new bezel but do miss the wavy dial. I certainly wont be selling mine.

They are out now, tried the black on in the Bluewater boutique (and the titanium LM PO), tried the blue SM300 in another Bluewater AD, sorry no pics. Black is nicer IMO, and the bezel was p1$$3d on the blue one :x

I think some of the flagship stores will have them now.

Tried the black SMP on late last week in Laings in Edinburgh.

Great watch...the dial and bezel outshines (literally) the new PO.

Only problem is I really do not like the bond bracelet. So it looks like my
next watch will be an AT8500 in grey.

As for the blue PO, don't even go there!

Re: New Omega SMP 300 - Release?

I've looked in every local AD recently to try on a new SMP, with particular interest in the new dial and bezel. Had no luck what so ever :(

Kind of wish they'd done more with the bracelet than just screwed links, but I really want to see one in the metal

I tried on the new black and blue face SMP's, for me the new black face looks better than the old one, but the blue looks better on the old model.

The blue one is horrendous, it makes the whole watch look cheap.

I'm not really a student of Omega - but on the basis of those pics I agree.

Last time I saw that exact colour was on my 1971 Austin 1100. "Teal Blue" it was called...

2531 - beautiful - but the new Black SMP is a whole new world. bit like comparing a 16800 submariner with a new ceramic - I'd quite happily have both :)
It's just a matter of time...

Ok.... I am hoping they have these in Sydney Omega stores.... I need to go check these out....I am hoping (no offence) its the Q&D photos that makes them look a bit guff....hoping....

Makes me love my 2254.50 just that little bit more....

The blue one looks like it is turning into an Orient Mako. I think I prefer the older one ...

Nicer bracelet too, in my opinion.

Fair point, I would too of course. I guess I was just saying that if they are updating so little on an already popular style, why bother at all. And to be fair I haven't seen the blue smp in the flesh yet.

How very dare you say my iPhone photos taken under the horrendously bright light of the boutique may have made the watch look a bit "guff" (BTW you are correct, it is much nicer in person, but still not worth £5.5k  )

Re: New Omega SMP 300 - Release?

I'll reserve judgement untill seeing on in person but I think the blue one looks pretty good, and the black one great!

They're a good example of gradual evolution of a design rather than radical change.

(They skeleton hands are always going to split opinion though).

It's the blue I am most keen to see.

Re: New Omega SMP 300 - Release?

I think that the loss of the wave dial is a crime in itself.

As for the new price
When I bought my SMP 300 5-6 years ago I seem to remember it costing around £1200. I realise that they moved to coaxial movements and this new one has a ceramic bezel and so forth but to more than double in price??? Those ceramic bezels must cost a fortune to make!!

Not sure this is a good thing - Omega isn't supposed to be about mine's-shinier-than-yours, else as well as becoming the new Rolex, it'll become the new Breitling too. But, I do quite like the new 300. Luckily, a Speedmaster bracelet will fit, which is what I'd have instead of the Swatch-style Bond one.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

Re: New Omega SMP 300 - Release?

Despite my recent moans about Omega prices rising etc etc......have to admit I like the look of the new SMP. However, I wish they'd left the dial alone and simply moved to a ceramic bezel. The old-style bezels are easily damaged and were always a weak point on the SMP IMO. As for the bracelet, I`d assumed they'd continued using the old Bond-style because it looks the same at a glance. Has it been improved to give screwed links or have I misunderstood an earlier comment?

The Bond bracelet does seem to divide opinion; personally I love it. Had one on my old 2254.50 and found it more comfortable than the 1610/930 originally fitted. I like the combination of polished and brushed parts, which complements the watch perfectly to me.

At the prices they charge, Omega should make an alternative Speedy style 1610/930 bracelet available as an option.

As for the price.... .....£2700 for the latest incarnation of a watch that sold for £1150 in 2006.....still can`t get my head around it.

They are def growing on me!! First thought they were hideous!

The new Blue Planet Ocean is surely going to be James Bonds new watch in Skyfall?? Judging by the last few films the Planet Ocean is nudging out his use of Seamaster! Guess Omega has sold far too many Seamasters over the years to Bond fans so guess makes sense!!

I don't why they continue with that ghastly hands shape - looks like a cheap clock...

Can we have a Ceramic 2254.50 with Co-Axial please. That is all.
