What is your favourite Patek Philippe from the current collection? Planning my 50th b day list, I'm only 43, but could take awhile to save for....

    cheers

Personally, I have never seen one I like the look of. Sure, they're superbly made and the movements are works of art but they just don't do it for me. That said, this one (given that it sold recently so is kind of current!!!) is stunning:

My favourite "real world" Patek is probably the 5205 white gold dark dial. (I think a couple of the guys on the forum have one). It's my grail in the sense that much as I'd like a grand complication, I'm never really going to be able to afford or justify that kind of expense, whereas the "lower" Pateks are just about attainable. I would also have to consider it for some kind of landmark as even the 3-hand Cavaltravas are the price of a car.

The other problem with saving for a dream Patek is that prices keep going up above the rate of inflation so you're chasing a moving target.

I've had a look at Patek's recently (not that I can afford one) but if I could I would go for the 5296R - Mens Rose Gold Calatrava, pure class.

Stunning watch, but not too sure about the "hollow" lugs. :?

If it was for occasional use (formal dinners, etc) then any of the handwind watches in the Calatrava range. My particular favourite is the 5196R in rose gold with seconds sub-dial.

Aiming for one at the moment but have a budget of £10k and fear I may have missed the boat now that list is c.£19k rather than £11k when they first came out!

    Real world

Either a simple Cavaltrava or in an ideal world an annual calendar.

Well I have the 5167 which I love but I do very much like the 5960.

Keep hunting, the sector dial on that calatrava is beautiful. I'd have that in Ross gold in a heart beat.

Nice steel sports for me - the poor man's Patek but my favourite. Simple is best - jumbo on steel bracelet(with maybe a spare rubber).
It's just a matter of time...

Without doubt, the 5980/1A. Although one would set you back 25k min, probably a good investment as most PPs are.

Would love a 5270 but pretty pricey.

Not usually a lover of the aquanaut, but the new bigger size one is very nice.

Any Nautilus, but especially the chrono. With a wait list of several years for certain models, get your deposit down now
It'll turn up about the right time, then take out the 0% finance, job done, and none of that horrible, never quick enough saving up issue :)

I tried one on today in David Duggan and I have to say I'm not keen. Gutted!

It looks a little try-hard with the detailed dial sitting behind the very simple hands. Also tried a 5196 in rose gold which looked far more the part

I was also thinking of starting a 5 year savings plan to buy a Patek, would love the one below but being just a poor man probably would get the plain dial blue Nautilus.
