On forums, I usually see them going between £1150 and £1500 ($1800 - $2400USD). That's a lot of soup and peanut butter. :D
I've always loved the Tag Monaco, and after dislocating, breaking and fracturing my arm on Friday I've decided it might be time to treat myself.
Now the problem is I'm far from loaded :( In fact I was made redundant a few months ago, and now my arm is busted I won't be working for a while longer!
Realistically, whats the best I could expect to pay for a decent condition Monaco. I'd love a 69 but that's going to cost too much. It really is the cheaper the better, some go on the bay for £850-1000 but Im concerned about being ripped off/counterfeits.
Any advice would be appreciated

being blunt, £850-1000 is not going to get you a Monaco unless it's rough, replica or robbed!!!
I bought one off here recently and it took a lot of bartering and patience to get it for a price I was happy with (£1350) and I thought I got an absolute bargain....
You'll get a nice monza in your budget though....
There is a guy from Australia selling one on WUS for $1300. It's a Monaco Calibre 6 but no papers. Seems like a good price if your not concerned with papers.
Might be worth a look.
850 - 1000 might get you a non-chrono version if you look around. There's been a couple on here around that ball park i believe, depends how useful you think chrono functions are i guess?
If you could stretch a little bit, there's a couple on Chrono24 at just a tad over £1100
for that money you might get a loose silver dialled Monaco chrono if you are lucky but you wont find the blue McQueen chrono for anywhere near that. Personally i would avoid the non-chrono watch, they are just not the same IMO
I thought this was a watch forum ;-)Originally Posted by teknicolourfox

The blue dial 'MQueen' Chrono is the one to get IMO, not in your budget but well worth the Extra and collectable. Also the 'Gulf' editions are V nice.
I'd have to second that. I wanted the black faced one initially but after seeing the McQueen in the flesh its the only one. My McQueen is the only watch in my collection i'd (tentatively) call a keeper :DOriginally Posted by Chartman69
Not much help but I was in the Tag Outlet in York recently and they had a couple of base Monacos for £1350 They looked decent enough although I never handled any of them. If you are looking at pre owned for £1000-1100 then maybe the extra push might be worth it? Good luck.
I bought a Chrono version on the SC for 850 if believe just over a a year ago, it was in good condition, with a few tiny nicks on the lugs. Put up a WTB and maybe another reasonable seller will pop up,
good luck
Thanks chaps, in hospital for the next week or so, so plenty of time to mull it over...
That's outrageously good value....Originally Posted by zecko

Given your current misfortunes (broken arm no job etc) I`d say the last thing you should be doing is making frivolous purchases like this :?
Get yourself back on an even keel first and think about watches later.

I agree with Paul, maybe wait a bit before making an expensive purchase?
I have put Monaco on my wrist - wonderful watch I have to say.I have seen several Monacos for 1300 Euro(automatic, small second hand, date) in good to exc. condition.Search chrono24.com
Thats one way of looking at it. I knew a chap who always drove an Aston Martin V8... had it for year. He was skint many times but never sold it.. he always said he was more likely to get business turning up in the Aston. Wear a good watch, it might help!Originally Posted by bigbaddom3
I'd stick to a chrono btw, you may not mind but it will be hard to shift when you want to trade up.
I dream about this:

Yep I appreciate the advice about waiting, and being sensible it's what I should do. Never been that sensible unfortunately (broke my arm longboarding!)...
If I see the right watch I'll purchase though as it's a long term investment and probably not something I'll ever be selling/flipping.
Good advice.

well, thats a bargain :D but I'm not sure it's the right model for me!
Probably fake.Originally Posted by teknicolourfox

I thought there are no any fakes on ebay.
It's a quartz watch - similar to the Monaco.
Therefore an accurate description.
Is your Carrara one of these genuine quartz models, or is it an automatic?

There aren't any good reps of the Monaco so you should be safe getting a non chrono for £1k or under on the bay.
Why not contact this guy who appears to be a WIS and is selling to buy a FM. He asks for offers so maybe around £1300 will get a nice Blue Chrono ? It certainly looks worth at least that much !
As my mother used to say...'Shy bairns get nowt'.
