Wow, that's a big swing from 'Love' to 'Hate' ! A middle or 'neutral' category would be nice !  .......and where I would probably vote !
Following on from the topic regarding those of us who are unfortunate enough to be struggling / out of work... It just got me thinking as to those of us lucky enough to have jobs view said jobs.
I can honestly say I hate my job at the moment. Won't go into any detail - but I'm paid well enough and it's safe and secure which I do genuinely appreciate. But everyday I sit and wish the day away until 5. I've started looking around for other opportunities and will 100% be loosing a fair chunk of money by doing so - but I've just had enough. There really are more important things than money and I'd MUCH rather be :) than rich.
Just wondered the percentage on here who are fortunate enough to really love what they do and what percentage are in the same miserable boat as me!

+1 for somewhere in the middle!

   oh yeah - good point! shows how I'm feeling today!
neutral added!!!!
And me my job can be great... or shxtty
Like in the summer out in the sun , women walking past all day GREAT :D
Winter FREEEEEEZING my Nads off ,Dark when you start & finnish etc...
or Now sitting at home waitng for the phone to ring , not sure how i feel about that
Well today, and for the last few months, I've mostly been loving mine....
...and ironically, the log-in for our wireless network in the office, was until recently 'ilovemyjob@......(my company)....
..so you had to love your job to work there!
I hated my last job - IT field engineer for 30+ years. Actually, what I hated was the driving, the unsocial hours, and not knowing where I'd end up or what time I'd get home. The actual fixing stuff and dealing with customers was great, as was the money. When the opportunity for voluntary redundancy came up, I grabbed it with both hands.
My current job in a supermarket petrol station is a lot more laid back, and we have a laugh. I know exactly what time I'll be home. Rubbish pay, though.
On balance, it is "love" despite the uncertainty that goes with being out on your own! If I had stayed in my last job, I may have ended up strangling the little hitler in HQ who was making my life a misery.
I perfectly understand you. Can't complain about money (too much), not an extreme number of evenings at the office, but no pleasure.Originally Posted by paulyg

On the other hand, my wife used to be happy with her job.
Absolutely LOVE my job and genuinely wouldn't know what I'd want to swap it for! OK, maybe I'd swap to be a racing driver, but that's about it! The money isn't amazing and I'll never live in a million pound mansion (well, until inflation makes terraced houses that price!) but it's better than average and it's such good fun.
However, I'm heading out to (a shitty part of) Africa for a month or so on Friday, so ask me in December whether I still love it and you might get a different answer! :D
I'm somewhere in the middle. There are times when it's dark when I leave home and I have to go somewhere godforsaken like Wembley or Nawf Aktin. Much of my working time is spent stuck in traffic, or on some godawful industrial estate in the arse end of somewhere dreadful, and then it's dark again when I eventually get home.
But it's still better than sitting at the same desk all day, every day. And I'm based at home, so report writing is done in the comfort of my own home, uninterrupted apart from making a rather pathetic attempt at Popmaster around coffee time each morning. And listening to the confession on Simon Mayo's drivetime show. And being able to work while watching cricket on Sky.
And I'm about to order a new car to get stuck in most mornings. And in two years I could walk away with a final salary pension, which I regard as my reward for putting up with a diet of bullsh1t and the soul-destroying annual review for so many years. Why is it that it's never the 999 things that you get right that count?
Good days and bad.
Regards
Ian
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
I'm an independent mortgage and insurance broker, and with my wife we run our own business. Without doubt the last few years have been really tough, but I still lve what I do..helped by comments from my clients such as this one I received today:
Hi Steve
..............we're in! well not exactly doing a bit of decorating first.
Thanks Steve for all your help honestly feel we couldn't have done all this without you. I will definately be recommending you to others.
Cheers
Sarah....and Darren
Oh yes. And if ever I don't, I'll stop.I love my job?
I honestly cannot imagine doing something I hated for even 1 year, let alone over 30. That's over half of your working life! :shock:Originally Posted by clockworks

Being a petrol head I love my job of buying and selling cars!
Has its downsides... when the bloody things go wrong but all in all I LOVE IT!!
Tick one for the love my job
Fly and teach people to fly military helicopters, love it...apart from when people try and kill me....that's not quite so enjoyable
That sounds like a 8) job!Originally Posted by Madness

I hate my day job with a passion and can't wait until July when I finish. Thats why i've gone back to college.
My part time job I love, the pays not great the work hard, outside in all weathers and it can have long hours like it will next week 18+ hour days but I dont mind, if I could do it full time without being away from home everyday I would.
I think my jobs ok, it's just the back-stabbing and bitching between colleagues that spoils it.
Love it - and have done for the last 29 years!

Love my job... but then I sat down a few years ago and worked out what I wanted to do & sod the lifestyle change. Since then I've worked hard to establish myself and it's now starting to pay me back.
Delivering 5L V8 back to it's happy owner today in the morning sun confirmed it!
I dont love it but i,m very lucky as i get up when i like and spend as much time as i like with my family (i,m self employed ) but when theres no work theres no money ...but when there is work theres enough to live a good quality of life . :) but i still have to sell my watches now and then since the economic downturn :( , i voted option two.
Love it, running a large manufacturing site for a large US outfit. Great workforce, never dull, great boss.
My job is, without a doubt, the best I've ever had. In fact I've only disliked one job (and they disliked me too, hey ho).
I work with some of the brightest people I've ever met (in three years there have been 4 PhD's in my department alone with another on the way) who are prepared to put the time and effort in to make miracles happen.
I have a great work/life balance, good pension scheme, OK pay and reasonable job security (hope I don't jinx it).
The only problems are to do with the cutbacks affecting Higher Education and associated increase in workload for my staff - but it's the same for everyone and worse for some.
I would thoroughly recommend HE to anyone who can live with the lower pay than for the same job in the private sector but who values work/life balance and job satisfaction above this.
Cheers,
I voted neither love or hate it, but it does have it's moments  and my colleagues and I do joke that as long as there are stupid people in this world, then we will have a job - if you can hack the shiftwork and the stress
My quality of life, work/life balance is better and pound to dollar, I am paid considerably more than I was in the UK :)
Some days I tolerate it. Some days I hate it. The problem is that I have been doing it for the best part of 25 years and it pays well. It also has a final salary pension scheme.
If I gave it up now it would have huge implications for the rest of my life.
Anyway, I'm too old to be a porn star.
It's good to hear most people are happy with what they're doing... My job never used to be bad - just things have progressively gotten worse over the past 2 years and there is no sign of things getting better anytime soon!
I'm in the middle at the moment - there are days I love and days that could be a whole lot better! I have some appointments I really like and others which are very hard work - but setting up and working for myself was the right move and has opened up lots of opportunities.
Just trying to stay focussed and concentrate and growing things but not too quickly - staff are generally very good and I no longer have to deal with too much of the mundane crap experienced in some previous roles.
I couldn't say I love it though and I'm not sure I could find a job I would.
It's just a matter of time...
I often like my job: a lot of really really great people, I get to work on some fascinating stuff, and a final salary pension.
But at the same time....
I often despise my job: its a large £multibillion company under pressure for many years, constant re-organisation, lack of personal challenge, lack of focus, lack of payrises, a few incredible corporate imbeciles.
....which is why I resigned a month back and I'm off to a much smaller company in January.
I'm in the love category.
I wont ask people to guess what I do because they would never guess, I'm a Physics teacher in a comprehensive school! Most people look at me with pity when I tell them.
Although I'd like a few more pounds for the watch fund, I enjoy going to work (most days) (apart from when IT doesn't work and management are bullsh***ing...........
In a normal economic climate my job would be great, at the present its not good. Watching the news tonight the prospects for the near future are tricky to say the least. I'm lucky I still have a job. :)
Good holidays then! :wink:Originally Posted by Jsnmb
I quite like my job, going to work is not a chore and the people I work with are spot on.
I see "final salary" pensions feature heavily, including a reason to carry on in a job that people dont like for years...
I've always lived for today, if I've got money I spend it and when i havent...well... I dont :)
I dont particularly care to much about when I hit "retirement" age, whenever that will be. I may not be in a position to go on cruises or buy new cars then (or I may!) but I'll know that I enjoyed nearly every day I've lived
You can always get more money, but you cant get more time!!
I'm in the love camp for the simple reason that i have the ability to influence some pretty cool things in a big company. I look after the telephony system for a large blue chip company that is constantly driving forward so i always have a challenge to deal with. Yes it's stressful and yes its frustrating but it's great when something cool happens and i can say "i did that"
Money is getting better now too, which helps the watch / car / motorbike fund
I'm reasonably keen on mine. It is a good environment with interesting people, and I get to do what I like to do. I don't get much money, etc., for it, however.
Best wishes,
Bob
I'm retired.
I get up when I want, go where I want when I want, drink as much coffee and tea as I want when I want, surf the net as much as I want where I want with no restrictions as to where on the net I can go. My old company pays my final salary pension into my bank account regularly - even though I no longer have to produce anything for them.
Best job I've ever had. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. :D
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
So am I. But that's because I am now working on a single project and have no staff to manage - long story.Originally Posted by ktmog6uk

I own my own clothing shop, sounds great, right?
I'll admit, being your own boss is cool......when things are good, but sadly its not that good anymore, four years ago I loved my job but these days, since the credit crunch, I dont love it so much.
In the love category here. Paramedic working week on week off from home with 4 weeks holiday a year. I can think of worse places to be/work.
I am happy as Larry. I'm just dreading enforced retirement from my job at 60 (those is the rules):( .
I posted love though that is a little strong for most of the time. But I am very lucky to enjoy what I do and look forward to the prospect of advancing in my company. On bad days I can hate I admit, but normally at the end of the week look back and am happy with what I've done and it very rare to feel that Sunday night dread.
I enjoy what I do but wish I was a little busier.
Probably spend too much time on the internet to fill in my spare time at work!
Well I'm a 'love my job' voter. I'm self employed, so my own boss, love dealing with the public as everyone is a challenge, and get to play with some cool gadgets. :)

I can't comprehend how anyone could enjoy work, Im not lazy but I would rather be sunning myself or enjoying not working!
I guess when we say enjoying, its a necessary evil we all have to do to get where we want to be or just keep us ticking over.
Personally, I run my own Architectural firm, I earn good money and Ive invested in property, now Im in a financial position where I cant afford to
leave work. I would love to leae tomorrow, it gets me down. I dont have to work hard its just boring boring boring and my colleagues are too!
Well, I do enjoy work - and I can't comprehend how anyone could spend all their time sunning themselves!Originally Posted by miniman1983

Love, as long as I've got the time for TZ-UK and some occasional watch hunting :D
When they take that away I would be very irritated.....
