Anyone tried this bad boy?

Fancy trying a G-Shock, but puzzled by the options.
I'd prefer one of the smaller square faces, rather than the large chunky models. Small wrist syndrome.
I'd want black I think, and maybe a retro type gig?
Any recommendations, or anything for sale on the board?

Thanks for the help guys...
DW-5600E. Fits your requirements exactly and is a direct descendant of the first G-Shock.
edit: GWM-5600 would be my second choice...
Pah, black is soooo yesterday. For around 50 notes, you could have had this one:

Not bad, but bit much for my tastes...Originally Posted by Sharky

Gotta be a DW5600 - cheap,
not too massive and has a great styling.
Good enough for Keanu Reeves in 'Speed'!
I got a GW-M5600BC-1ER just last week.
Best G Shock I've had so far, including my riseman, frogman, mudman etc. Just looks the business and has the lot
A GW-M5600 is the one you want. Not too big, square, retro looking (takes a lot of styling cues from the DW-5000). Atomic reception, so you can set all your other watches by it, and it will never need a battery change (well, not for a long time anyway). I'm on my second; if you have one digital watch, this is the one to have.
GW5600 all the way
Bought a modified gwm5600 from sales corner. Can't recommend it enough. Now I have started on the g shock route, fancy another one but which one?
The GW-M5600 is the obvious and probably best choice.
You might also have considered the GW-056 which is slightly smaller by all account
Wearing mine right now.Originally Posted by RobinMasters

Whatever you expect they are better.
The Riseman is a great watch and the only G-Shock I've ever really bonded with. It's my beater and a gadget freak's delight.
Got my GA100 stealth black on right now. Great watch
i really like the frogmans but they are big
Riseman every time, the most functional/comfortable G out there :D

Another vote here for the 5600 - my preference is for the reversed out display module. A little harder to read but very good looking with a cracking bracelet.

One of the best IMO, the finish on this watch is stunning.Originally Posted by futon river crossing

Love mine. Really comfy and more functions than you can shake a stick at.
I love my two:
I do like my gadgets so the riseman looks tempting.
I like that one. Any chance of a model number and, if you don't mind, your wrist size?Originally Posted by GIB984
I would go for a original g shock.
classic is better
the riseman there is a nice white one in SC at the moment
What model is that?Originally Posted by Sharky

If you like the 5600 and want another 'G' then for me, the obvious option is the 6900. Not too big, fantastic design, and you even get 'respect' from the yoof, as apparently they're very cool
I've got both the 5600 and the 6900, both atomic, both solar. Brilliant watches that cant be faulted. If i had to choose a favourite, it'd be the 6900.
Just picked up the 5600 with bracelet for a stonking buy it now price. Great size and comfort.
I had the Riseman previously but like th OP have smaller wrists (6.5"). Certainly no issues with comfort but it is quite a big watch.
It's a GLX5600-4.Originally Posted by markrlondon

Quite right mate the geeky rectangle is precisely why I love it.Originally Posted by MattMM

go bling - GD-100GB-1ER
(picked up this one this arvo)
Here's another vote for the 5600.
Its a classic and there are are so many variations out there that there should be one that suits. I've got one of these:
Can't answer the wrist size question but that looks to me like a GS-1100-1AEROriginally Posted by petethegeek

Not like one of those namby-pamby-poncey-hoity-toity-Oooo-look-at-me girls watches!
I'm selling my White Riseman BUT my daily watch is a standard Black Riseman as shown above and it's the most reliable watch I've ever had. Really comfortable and a lot smaller than pictures make it look.
The GW-M5600 is alright although I've never been a fan myself. It is certainly not "the best" G-Shock in my view. The GW-5000 is the DLC-coated, full stainless steel cased version of the GW-M5600 and that's a stunning watch but a little pricey.
The best thing for you to do is go to the Casio G-Shock stores next time in London as you'll see them all there. Otherwise, Shops such as Argos and H-Samuels stock quite a broad range.
Another vote for the riseman. Looks good and the module is excellent with time displayed across all the modes. The alti-baro functions aren't great to my Suunto Core but it's a much better everyday watch.
I watched that episode of the gadget show - a bit misleading, the watch they actually tested was a solar atomic mudman, but at the end they showed a riseman. I owned both at the time and it was interestingto see the level of abuse they can take!Originally Posted by daggartuk

I actually sold my riseman as it had a design issue that bugged the hell out of me, the module is great but why do Casio put a big slab of plastic halfway across the face? In use I found it meant the top half of the digits was often in the shade making telling the time at a glance impossible half the time without tilting it towards me. A shame, apart from that it's brilliant.
I've just recently bought my very first G-Shock, from SC of course. I was a bit sceptical about it if I'm honest, as I've always maintained that no grown man should ever wear a digital watch. I bought the GW-3000BB and IMO, it's the ideal grab-and-go watch. It looks smart, it's very easy to read, it doesn't look childish, yet it can still take one heck of a beating in true G-Shock fashion. It also wears smaller than its dimensions would suggest.
I can't say I'm entirely converted (my belief about digital watches remains...), but I would definitely recommend them. If I find another like mine I might be tempted though ;)
5600 series any of or my fave GW 5000.
