    Unpacking a Patek Philippe

With the new 250 post limit in mind, I'd better get started doing some bloody speed posting. :)

I really like the understated luxurious style and the exceptionally well crafted case and the very nicely finished movement. Unfortunately both my photographic skills and the mobile cam doesn't do the watch justice. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures anyway.

wow.....looks to pristine to strap on your wrist !!!

    Re: Unpacking a Patek Philippe

Now you have set a very high bar for your next speedpost!

I'd box that up every night just to experience unboxing it again. You could probably sell it as an experience.

Arghh - I had just given up on buying a Patek for my 40th and then you go and post that!

A member for almost two years and that is the best you can do ;)

Think I may have to re-visit these lovely pateks jumbo models - where did you get it from and what is current RRP on that one?

    Thank you.
It's just a matter of time...

Wow, what a watch to unwrap new.

Nautilus range is the only one I really like from PP.

    Well done and enjoy.

    I'd be a nice 41th birthday present too :)
I'm not sure what the current retail is in the UK but in Denmark I beleive it's 179.000 dkr. (approx. 20.000£)

Thats a lovely watch - I hope it will see some use rather than being locked out for special occasions...

    but £20k.... blimey...

  26. #26

    Re: Unpacking a Patek Philippe

I have so far resisted the temptation to open my Patek, preferring to keep it for a special occasion (trip to the local boozer with the mrs perhaps).

However, box and watch are separated, the box residing in the Barbican somewhere and the piece itself in Singapore.

I shall have to live vicariously through your post for now. Splendid work by the way!

Thanks for the kind comments. It's looking gorgeous on my wrist just now. I'm going to use it in rotation with other watches, no reason to hide it in a safe.

Gorgeous. Without a doubt the best PP.

    Re: Unpacking a Patek Philippe

I am feeling mildly controversial this afternoon and was going to bemoan the awkward and fussy case detail.

But then I remembered my manners and the fact that one mans fussy detail is another mans pleasure. If we all liked the same things, this forum would be a boring place.

That is a lovely piece and it is great to see pictures like this. That is the first time I have seen a box which I could happily describe as bordering on splendid and the view through the case back illustrates why exhibition backs should be reserved for pieces like this, not those with mundane prefabricated and undecorated movements. The Nautilus also avoids the awkward chapter ring detailing of its stable mate the Aquanaut.

Liking that one. Dare I describe it as 'minty'. Dare I also say that I bet you are glad you 'pulled the trigger?' 8)

Its a good looking watch, not my cup of tea though.
I go for the more dressy Pateks.

What's this about the new 250 post rule?

I have a friend who its not registered on TZ but used to like browsing Sales but he says that be can't see it anymore, is this a new policy?

Very nice, I've only ever seen these through the window at the local AD, way out of my price range. :(

If the cleaner hasn't ditched it, it will still be in my study. If you weren't so shy about coming out for an ale you'd have had it in your possession yonks ago... :P

Yes - I have been coy with the ale of late. Perhaps due to the lavish splurge on the old Patek.

I would avail myself this evening, but you have chosen to sully my good name in public. A slur, sir.

Still a lovely piece - I shall post wrist shots of my own, when I finally take the plunge and marry the wench. Though I am uncertain how a Patek will rest with the locals in the Valleys....
