c'est assez beau ca. bien trouvee.
Some say it is more and more difficult to find good watches at garage sales (here in France we say "vide grenier" that you can translate by "empty your granary"),
I made a pleasant find yesterday with this Junghans WWII J30BZ panel clock; of course it is not a Breguet but the movement is quiet similar and Junghans was one of the makers that built the entire clock when others just put their brand on the dial...
It is from WWII and was certainly mounted on a german military plane,
may be brought back by a french soldier after the war,
it has all the german litterature on the back;
not running but under the dust cover, the nice movement appears to be in very good condition,
will now go or a CLA,
enjoy,
Laurent

Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Not that I know much about the subject, but that looks really cool!
As you say, good find. Will you try to get it working ? Could use it as a cool desk clock.
Yes, I will have it fixed;
would love to see this one running,
cheers,
Laurent
Nice find there....hope you can get it going :)
There's 1000's of those scattered all over the Kent countryside....... you can barely take a step without tripping over one
That's a very nice find, but be careful with the paint on that dial - I bet it glows well in the dark..
Nice find
Probably from a Me109?
That'd be in the Mini's walnut dash before you could say ''Dem geeermuns bomb'd aarrrrchippy''
That is a thing of beauty.
Very cool. The dial reminds me of modern Sinns. Does anyone know the true origin of this classic dial that has doubtless been used/copied on many a watch and clock face?
Thanks,
Myron
Nice find indeed :drunken:
A lovely little piece of history. Is there any real risk from the radium on these?
This was a completely dumb question, or just that no one happens to know?Originally Posted by Myron

Was thinking that myself, would it definitely have been radium ? If so, it's there in far larger quantities than a wristwatch of the era and with its half-life (I had to google, obviously) of 1600 years, it would be interesting to take to somewhere with a radiation meter and find out if there is any risk.Originally Posted by Windandwave
I recall when studying for Physics A level and looking at radioactivity, the Geiger Counter was cracked up to demonstrate its capabilities by pointing it at one or two of our watches. Mine had been given to me by my grandfather as he hadn't been using it for some time . When tested, the Device made rather a loud noise and my teacher said I wasn't to ever wear it again !!!!! Maybe accounts for the lowly grade I eventually managed to gain..
Splendid find - it does indeed remind me of a Sinn. I may point this out to a chum of mine who sports one...
That, Sir, has everything a military collectible should have - style, patina, wear and provenance.

Real nice find, won't mind something like that for my desk :bounce:
Very nice looking and in fine nick too.

me too. i had a box of old packet watches given to me by my grandfather ( some of them were smiths iirc ). each one registered higher on the counter than the small radioactive sample they kept under lock and key in the lab.Originally Posted by notnowkato

Great find. What will you do with it?

At this moment it is at my watchmaker waiting for a quote for a repair...
Cracking find that Laurent 8) not sure how much you managed to get it for but............

I even think yours is slightly better as it seems to have more detail on the sub dial, hope you get it working :)
There's a fair few on the sea-bed around Europe too.Originally Posted by catflem

Zoomer, I think the one you posted (from Ebay) was not bearing the FL23885 number of the german Luttwaffe...so may be slighlty more "modern" than mine...???
I love the look of this.
There is defo something about the thrill of a find, especially when you realise that it is something special.
Good luck with bringing back to life!
Nice watch, and other time go to sales!
