Good deal or not on Breitling - quick decision needed?

While watch shopping today (for something else  ) my AD offered me a Breitling Superocean chrono (black dial) for £2750. It is in the window at £3370.

I'm not a Breitling man normally but being smaller at 42mm, I liked it a lot more than expected. Anyway, its on hold for 24 hours and is the last of the old style in the shop.

    Good deal or not?

    Thanks fellas.

It's a good deal if your looking for one...........But not "Crazy" cheap enough to buy for the bargain alone......Imho

    Good luck deciding though......

Regardless of price (and the AD is just shifting old stock and will still make a fat profit), you should pass. If it has never grabbed your attention before, it will not last long on the wrist. There must be something else you are after that deserves the money?

I have no intention of spending money I don't have on something I don't like.

Just your thoughts on value (or not)....

In my experience, most Breitling AD's will go to a 20% discount on a list price watch without too much persuasion.

So if the list price is £3370, you should expect a £674 discount.

Which brings the watch down to £2696.

If anything, your AD is being less than generous by only offering a discount of £620 (18.4%).

Not quite the Deal of the Century.

If you really want it, go back to him and insist on a 25% discount - it costs nothing to ask, and why settle for what suits the AD?

    Just my personal opinion

Whilst i have bought "cheap" or good value watches, i have never bought a watch just because it was cheap/good value. It has to sing to me. So if this one sings to you it's a good deal otherwise you might want to pass until you find one that really grabs you.

Listen - all I want from WIS more familiar with Breitlings than me is an opinion on price and not a debate about buying a watch on a whim.

2750 is a nice round number but 2500 has more appeal ;-)

As stated. It's not a bad discount but not overly generous either.

I would have expected 15% straight away, another 3% wouldn't seal it for me.As stated 25% would get me thinking...best of luck.

As soon as you walk out the door of the AD, it'll be worth <2k on SC.

Buy it if you really want thw watch. Otherwise, jog on.

Good, but not great deal. 25% might be possible if they need to move stock.

As soon as you buy it, it's re-sale value is probably list -40% so whatever the discount, only buy if you really want the watch.

That watch listed at £2,000 five years ago, which was still pretty pricey compared to the competition. It hasn't changed a whit since then, so I think a £3,400 RRP is scandalous. Even at 30% off, it's very spendy. I would be waiting for one of the two standard sales, when it's half-off.
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!

    Hi,

I bought my Superocean chrono on a whim 3/08/11 for just over 2 grand brand new from beaverbrooks, love it.
Was not old stock as between the lugs it has week 13 year 11.
Not such a good deal the one you are looking at IMO.

    Good luck

    Col.

Out of curiosity what colour dial you after?

I know an AD that has a white dial, blue sub dials CSO in stock could be worth giving a ring
to help get price ideas to play against your AD.

Too expensive in my view, for the old model.

Mind you, I shudder at the Breitling list prices now, I look back at buying a brand new AD supplied Montbrillant back in 2003 for £2100. How a Superocean Chrono (as nice as they are) can be retailing at north of £3k just causes my head to go all fuzzy!

    +1

25% is fine. Mind you, I managed 40% on my last Breitling deal, but they were losing the brand as a AD.
