Well done Banana. It's good to see something positive on the forum amongst all of the negativity we have these days. :)

Very good news - though I suspect that I could be moving my three on. Possibly two of them in a charity sale.

Thanks TFB, it will be good to put this behind all of us that have been affected.

Can I remove this from being a "sticky" now?

    Hi Eddie,

Yes - I am booked to go for a final (I truly hope) visit to the custodian in the next couple of weeks, armed with letters of guarantee and typed receipts to receive the watches now that the legal period of twelve months since notice was issued on Dedman is up.

Hopefully that will see an end to this extremely protracted endeavour and the right people reunited with their long lost watches.

I'll leave it sticky until it's all over, just in case there's any final report.

Having been screwed under similar circumstances in the past, I think it's nice to hear that some out there might not have to go through the same experience. More power to your elbow chief!

Right, I have spoken to the custodian again today (it's incredible just how long these things drag on for - and he is as frustrated as me). A final demand letter has been issued to Dedman today, and within two weeks the matter should hopefully be drawn to a conclusion.

I can do no more at present, but for all those whose watches are still in legal limbo, please be assured I have been on the case with this for the past year or more and I haven't given up.

If you must speedpost yourself to sales corner do not do it on a thread like this where someone is doing their best to resolve a difficult situation. TFB has stepped up to the mark and you tread all over his thread.

I do not have a watch at mr. Dedman, but AFAIK the 2 weeks period has long passed and I'm curious if this whole matter has been brought to a - hopefully satisfying - end?

Not yet, but I have been in constant touch with the current custodian throughout the legal mess Dedman left behind, and that he has had to negotiate - it has been going on now for eighteen months or more.

There have been many delays to bringing this matter to a conclusion, and the pace and progress is not dictated by me. I can only act in accordance with the advice given by the custodian's solicitor.

However, I am expecting to make the fifth (and I desperately hope final) visit to the premises at some point in the next few weeks when I can get the time.

To all those interested, I have never given up, and I will see this through.

I tried to go and see the custodian last week to wrap this up, but he was unable to see me at that time.

I'm still trying on this. It has been very difficult to say the least.

    FINALLY!!!!

After numerous visits, discussion and negotiation (and sheer bloody minded persistence), I am really rather pleased to be able to announce I have finally recovered an Omega, an IWC and a Jules Jorgenson 18k dresswatch.

The owners have been notified, and will be reunited, after nearly four years, with their watches.

This has taken far longer than I ever expected due to a lengthy legal process resulting from Dedman's actions, but I guess that is the way of the world - some people make a huge mess for others to try and clear up.

And that, really will be the end of the matter!

^^^^ Very, very well done! This has been an extraordinary saga and it must be a relief to everyone that it's finally over.

Being a nosy so and so, I'd be interested to hear whom you have had to negotiate with and the nature of the legal action, if you feel you can share it.

Two of those are mine - and there will be a suitable charity donation, once I have agreed this with TFB.

Thank you so very much for seeing this through.

    Hi

Just got in - and sad to say, I came onto TZ before I looked at my mail. I have now seen your mail and responded.

    Thank you so much.

Basically gone to ground and disappeared owing fairly substantial sums.

He probably also has some watches still in his possession, but impossible to say what and whose.

As far as is known, he hasn't tried to make amends, and he hasn't tried to return any watches to their rightful owners.

Another public expression of gratitude to TFB, who has reunited me with my Omega Dynamic III auto, sent to Dedman in September of 2009. It's in pieces, sans a few parts, but still beautiful. Members like TFB make this place into a real community: he has worked tirelessly and selflessly to help. You might see a thread or two as I ask other members' advice on restoring the watch to its former completion, but I'll try not to mention the name of the guy who caused so many people, including TFB, so much trouble. May the latter's name live on instead.

And today I have been re-united with my white gold Jules Jurgensen and my gold IWC Cal89, full re-assembled and working.

Many, many thanks to TFB for persevering with this, and even having his own watch mender involved. It is some 6 years since my watches were sent to Geoff Dedman (and I do hope he is recovered / recovering).

As others have posted this support for fellow members shows people at their very best.

Alex - thank you so very much!!

You are most welcome! It only took four and a half years!

This has been a very long and complex process, but ultimately I am glad to have been able to help some fellow TZ'ers to recover their watches from what seemed at times to be a hopeless situation.

The fact that the watches recovered had been dismantled, and were in bits complicated things further, but we got there in the end.

And so this little saga has reached a conclusion.

Eddie, feel free to delete this thread at your convenience!
