    Avia Swissonic

My first watch was an Avia from a Gratton catalogue for my 16th Birthday (£12.00 from memory), a simple SS 3 hand handwinder. I had wanted the much more expensive Swissonic, but it was beyond my budget. I've often placed a bid on them when they come up on ebay, if I remembered to look. Anyway, I got lucky the other day and this arrived in the post this morning. It had about 30years of crud on it when I removed the ill fitting generic expending bracelet, but after a little spit and polish and replacing the bracelet with one of Eddie's aviators, I'm quite chuffed, not a holy grail, but teenage grail of mine
Looks great on the wrist at 40mm without crown and appears to be keeping good time, seller had replaced the battery prior to listing.

    Excuse the cellphone pic

    Any other fans out there?

I think that it looks great! The fact that it scratches a long-held itch just makes it all the better.

I think that is a lovely watch, I have a NOS tissonic which is not dissimilar. Does this model have the esa 9162 movement?

I think yours is the tuning fork variety which are more desirable
