Did someone say tritium? My favourite....
And this one's currently in the sickbay, but I'm so looking forward to getting it back....
Took a few snaps of my Omega SM300 and Tudor Sub together this afternoon. Both have tritium dials and handsets and both are ageing wonderfully.
A taste of honey you could say
I know a few of our younger members don't seem to "get" the whole tritium thing so I thought a photo thread might help 'em out.
So let's see some pics of your tritium guys, think of it as an educational exercise
Cheers,
Gary

Lovely examples there gents :)
Stefan that single red is awesome and I'm going to have to find a snowflake now.
Look forward to seeing your latest project Simon, I reckon that'll come out a treat.
Cheers,
Gary
Bit of stinking bishop on the left, and mild cheddar on the right
Both much loved.
Cheating a little as I posted this in the GMT thread, but here are a couple.
I'm also wearing a tritium dialled Tudor Sub at the mo, but it's still pretty white, although totally dead. May be ready in another 10 years or so...
A man of fine taste 8) . 105.012 on the left, 145.012 on the right? A spectacular pair.Originally Posted by Plake

My PAM 24....
Another Tudor Sub; the lume looks almost like a digestive biscuit, but still glows for a few seconds when charged by light.
And a G10:
Worth getting wet for.
A better close up of the SM300's indices

And the Tudor Subs lollipop hour hand.

My favourite thing about this is its dial and colour of the lume
That's a cracker Mike :love4:

Did someone say Tritium? Here's some H3, with a more modern twist :)
I might well be back, with some vintage tritium on Sunday :)

Some Japanese promethium for the tritium cocktail?
Relatively modern (1985) but beginning to get that lovely colour.

And my old MKII from 1969 (why did I ever sell this )

Tritium has, I think, a half-life of around 12 years and presumably produces weaker illumination over time. Can you have the tritium re-applied, or do you have to live with it? Just curious.
As far as I know no-one re-applies tritium these days. You can artificially age super luminova to get a similar colour to aged tritium but ultimately it's not the same.
Essentially if you have a vintage watch with a tritium dial and handset you learn to live with the lack of luminance and appreciate the wonderful colour. Not a bad compromise imho.

Gary
I've got a lot of tritium watches but this is the one with best looking lume....

Neil.
I think my next purchase is either going to be an SM300 or an SM120. All the ones shown on this thread are lurvely! Better start saving those pennies...
What year was this? Looks like 60's to me. love it...Originally Posted by secondhand

^ Love the asymetrics, beautiful collection.
I love aged tritium & a bit a wabi to a piece, but that's why I wear vintage.
Need to gets some pictures done of my collection, as I'm a bit of lurker here, rather than a poster.
May be it's time for a change.
Definitely. We'd love to see what you've got. :)Originally Posted by shellscript

Some of my favourites:
Seadweller with Swiss T25 dial, still lights up very well, with the help of a UV lamp :)
I love this thread! Here's another one of mine, inspired by the earlier 105.012 Speedy.
Gotta love tritium - so functional. Here's a tritium-loom watch from 1980. Taken at night, mind. ;)
...but what do I know; I don't even like watches!
A watch isn't just all about function Andrew, if it was we'd all be wear G-shocks or some such chunk of plastic crap
