No it was a private buyer who bought as investment then needed the funds for another purchase . I consider myself lucky . Yes it does as you say "bob" but I have grown to enjoy this ride and the practicalities of the shorter chassis .

Fantastic, I hadn't spotted it was such a late model. Mine was an old by comparison, but loved all the same. I'm sure I have a photo somewhere.. Hopefully we'll be adding a Defender next year. I always enjoyed the 90, super easy to park in town and easy to turn in green lanes! My friend meanwhile had to wrestle his 110 in tight spots!

Oh how I miss cars, family man now with 20 month old and trying to build a property pension so became Mr Sensible :-)

    Previously:

    Saxo VTS (I know)
    Seat Ibiza Cupra (1.8T remapped)
Audi S3 (remapped w/modified quattro ECU and brembo large brakes kit)
Fiat Coupe 20VT+ (big turbo upgrade)
VX220 Turbo (stage 2 courtenay kit)
    Boxster
    Boxster S

..now a slightly tired 09 plate X3 and 56 plate VW camper :-)

Fave car of the lot? Tie between the VX and the Coupe - both immense fun! I remember fondly planting my right foot driving away from courtenay after the S2 in the VX and laughing out loud - it was insanely fast!

I don't have that many, and they don't do it justice! Nor does the driveway, most of these pictures were from before it was sorted out as per first picture I posted.

    I collected this today:

A day later than intended, because I asked for a full suspension geometry check, then asked the dealer to actually adjust the settings to the manufacturer's specifications - three quarters of the wheels had camber out of spec.

It's astonishingly capable, and a real advance over previous GTI's that I've owned, and I've had a few.

The photos were taken at Beaulieu Garage, which wasn't where I bought the car from, but if anybody has £250k or so to drop on a restored E-Type, that's the place to go.

Nice car! My neighbour over the road has one.

I do hope BodgerUK and ChavChav et al aren't too upset by the engineer's name on the final inspection.

I visited the HQ on business a few times a few years back. Nice folk there. We saw a few "disguised" cars that had odd duck-taped appendages on them.

The wheels are too large diameter............

Just collected a new one today, an S63 Coupe.
Only a quick photo as it's better driving it than taking pictures of it!

I must be getting old as I'm seeing the lovely Aston Martin's for example - but more interested in the garden/driveways!

We still have the mk7 Golf GTD which we've had from new (first and probably only new car we will have), and I have an Audi TT Quattro Sport 240 as my impractical, can't take the family in it, car*.

    * That doesn't stop my 5 year old wanting me to take him to football in it rather than in "Mummy's boring car", and amusingly, the kids all seem to be drawn to it.

When I was working and had cash sloshing around my ankles, I always drove a Jaguar.

Since retirement I have become dull and boring and drive a 1.6 Diesel Honda Civic when in the UK and a Hyundai IX20 1.6 Diesel when in Spain.

The Honda is by far the better car.

Very nice, Kirk. I almost looked at one of these near to me but when I researched them they seemed like nothing but trouble. What's your experience?

The Aston's on this thread are just beautiful - my dream car!

I picked this up last Friday...

So far the best things are the heated massage seats and the virtual cockpit (not to mention the performance!). Not so good are the frequent trips to the petrol station...

It's been pretty robust, but they are not without their niggles. The overall build quality is pretty rubbish; the drivers seat constantly breaks, the roof leaks, the gearbox is a bit fragile, and recently a pop up headlight was being lazy. However they are made of non-exotic parts so repairs are cheap - for instance when the gearbox once got stuck in 3rd gear it was a clip that had failed, as found on Renault Master vans!

Part of the problem we've had is that is was in a lock up away from our house so it was neglected by us for a while (last year it did 60 miles!); the new house has a garage so we can use it more. Once you drive it the niggles become part of the character (seriously!).

The engine is robust, and with a few slight mods they can be turned into very capable cars (engine chip, uprated brakes etc). To be honest it's just a great fun little car to drive - they go around corners as if on rails!

Edit: I think Carryondentist has one too, and his has been tweaked - I imagine it is awesome fun.

We've just ordered a new RS3 to replace the other half's C63. She decided she wanted an Audi Exclusive colour (Porsche Riviera Blue) so won't be arriving until March/April

One of my friends has a pre FL in Sepang blue. I like Nogaro but wanted something a little more individual. Either way it should be a good car if anything like its predecessor.

Thanks! It's a great little car though I think it's time to sell when I get round to it.
I just don't have the time / enthusiasm for a second car anymore.
