To be fair its great I had a Evo X FQ-360 before and in the dry it feels every bit as fast as that, top end even faster I'd say
the wet is another story the front fights for grip but no more than the back end would on a RWD car
First service only cost about £180 ish, the car has all the toys you can think of and some more and to top it off
I'm getting high 20s mpg and motor way mid 30s and thats with having some fun

Not an 'exciting' car by any means, but just bought a little Fiesta Zetec with the 99bhp ecoboost engine as a cheap runaround and for my son to learn to drive in. Other car is a Volvo XC60 D5 AWD, but I took the little Fiesta out for a drive last night and can't believe the handling for such a 'basic' car - corners so flat and fast, better than I remember my old 205 Gti 1.9 actually - and the little 3 cylinder turbo engine has a fruity little rasp with a slick gear change. Rather surprised tbh!

Yes you should. Or you should sell to someone who will! ;-)

I've had it for about 10 years. It had a restoration / respray about 8 years ago, these photos were taken soon afterwards. It still looks much the same though, it's done less than 60k miles.

Oh and it gets driven - just not by me! It lives in my Dad's garage keeping his neighbours in north Mcr awake; it's a very noisy car! The previous owner replaced the exhaust with a 3" custom job.

You feel like a rock star driving it, people wave to you, and traffic always lets you out at junctions. The best was one crisp Sunday morning - I was sat at a red light outside a pavement cafe in the Peak District. The Capri is making an almighty din and adding a scent of petrol and oil to diners' cappuccinos. An old lady walks over to me and shouts "Oi! What a racket...it sounds lovely! I used to have a 3 litre..."

    Brilliant!

I'd love something like that when the kids grow up. We've just added an '07 Golf to the fleet to get my wife to the train station, collect it on Saturday

I think the Capri is something everyone appreciates. The older people because it will bring back so many memories, and the youngsters because it's still a beautiful car.

Nice - I can see an opportunity for a "Wedding Vehicles" thread.

My wife's boss had a '50s Bentley at the time we got married and provided it and himself as a chauffeur as our present.

We 'went away' in my 1969 Marcos, which I still have, although it's languished unused for a long time now.

It's amazing how time is changing people's view on Capris. When I started driving, my mates had them and they were seen as outstandingly naff to most. However, we loved them and I seem to remember the car mags had a soft spot for the 2.8i. These days good ones raise a smile and almost everyone I know who owned one goes misty eyed at the thought of having another. I guess the Capri had real character.

This morning I had a good chat with a Gentleman about his stunning metallic red AM Vantage S. It looked superb. After a while I showed him a pic of the Capri - "Wow, I used to have a 2.8 injection in the early 80s! My mates used to call it the Millenium Falcon!"

Nowadays they are a wealth & class-spanning car.

Just come back from the dealers after paying a deposit on a new car.

It's going to be a long wait till spring but I've been confirmed as 1st on the list for it.

This will be leaving when it arrives, after a few years of fun!

    PDE,

Surely you can not tease us all like this. I have seen the cars you have put on this thread in the past, I am guessing it may be German, with an AMG somewhere in the model name?

I'm now 4 months and 5000 miles into ownership of my Mustang, so I thought I'd give a bit of an update of the car....

I've had zero problems, I've got a couple of very minor trim related warranty issues that are being sorted tomorrow.
Average MPG since owning is 23.5 mpg but the car regularly returns 29 on a good run.
I've recorded 0.60 times of 4.7 secs and had it off the clock at well over 160 mph, (speedo only goes to 160) so it's plenty fast enough....

It's been lowered by 1" with all uprated springs, shocks and arb's, it's got a sports exhaust, and a new set of wider wheels, rear glass has been tinted, and all in all, it's a really nice place to sit....
Gets lots of positive comments and reactions when parked up, and lots of thumbs ups, when driving around... Up to now overall ownership has been good, the only fly in the ointment is the Ford dealership experience, just isn't the best....But hey at this price for this performance, I can't complain....

^^^ Nice wheel choice, they really suit the car. Perfect amount of suspension drop visually too.

Perfect example of how a few subtle mods can really make a car with that Mustang Enoch. I see quite a few of them about here on a daily basis (mainly eco boost ones for some reason) and in standard form they sit too high, the wheels look dwarfed and the tyres look like balloons. Yours looks much more purposeful now.

Agreed, very tidy. Love the "gentleman's express" ethos of Alpinas compared to the M cars, and while I find Alpina's modern day body kits a little excessive that older E36 looks the business. No mistaking those wheels, either.

And the 'stang! Great move by Ford to convert the car to RHD before making it available over here, and those mods really emphasise the car's character. Matt Farah - The Smoking Tire on YT - has made a few of his "one take" videos on various Mustangs in the past few months, just listen to the (modified) exhaust on this...

Please could we have a video showing what the Sports exhaust sounds like, where did you get the suspension upgrades done? Lovely car, I may well have a mid life crisis next year and get into one of these myself.

Thanks Benny.....the wheels came from the USA and were made especially for the mustang, so correct offsets, and no rubbing etc..... They're a clone of the GT350R wheels which are actually carbon and cost around £4K each....
Mine are alloy of course, and were $2k delivered, and including the custom satin bronze finish...

Cheers, a fair bit of thought went into the mods, and it's comments like this that make it all worth while..... It's very easy to go to low, and to hard etc.....whereas my intention is to make slight improvements, but still keep the car practical for UK roads, and everyday use...
The mods have really improved road holding and suspension control, without giving a hard ride, or not being able to get over speed bumps etc...

Did all the suspension mods myself.... All parts supplied by Steeda, a USA Mustang specialist that do everything from modest suspension upgrades slammed on the floor...
Regarding the exhaust, my first attempt using a Borla sports system, turned out to be way to loud, and had a harsh raspy sound, so I've recently modified it with a resonator install, and it's now much more pleasant....

Video below......ignore the waffling, the sound bites are at the end....

Oh and forget the stripes comments.....I've decided against them.....don't know what I was thinking.
