Too much going on for me. Just too busy. I'll pass.
Browsing around, and the new Steinhart Triton caught my eye.
Old vs New
The specs:
- 45mm stainless steel, beadblasted, 15.8mm thick
- DLC-IP-coated and fully lumed 120 clicks bezel
- double AR-coated (inside) sapphire crystal, 5mm thick
- automatic helium escape valve at 2 o'clock
- large screw-down crown at 4 o'clock
- double gasket sealed case back
- water resistent to 1000 meters
- Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement
- thick rubber diver strap with heavy duty butterfly clasp
- 24mm lugs incorporating hex screw bars
Anyone else tempted to order? At 560 euro, it seems quite reasonably priced, and looks so much better than the old model.
Also, all black version due March :

I kinda like it. The lume looks excellent.
Its busy, but I think its just borderline, and is fine IMO. I've seen far more busy than this.
I'd consider this, but maybe a nice deal off a pre owned eventually.
Cheers,

A bit Orsa, isn't it?
Way too much going on imho, I like the old version more.
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
I like it, but for €300 not €560 though... I'll wait til someone flips one :D

I quite like it - certainly prefer it to the current/older one.
That price is a bit steep though.
+1 on the Orsa comparison, that's exactly what I thought when I looked at it :)Originally Posted by mr1973
But whit those specs and an Eta 2824 it's still reasonably priced IMHO.

Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
never liked the old one, this one looks better but too much colours
& as already mentioned too busy.
cheers
Like it. Somehow looks smaller than 45mm though (not a bad thing IMHO).
I like it a lot, a nice modern take (extrapolation) of the classic divers theme IMHO.
But at 45mm it's too much for my whippet-like wrists.
They've given a lot of thought to the legibility in in the dark. Often, even though the lume is good, it's hard to tell the orientation of a watch quickly, which is essential to telling the time !?
busy, but i like it! always wanted smoething with multicoloured lumes

marchingontogether!
I like it
Personally I love it. Saw it a little while ago and fell for it in a big way - love the bead blasted finish, the PVD bezel, the anodised HEV, the engraved 100 ATM text and the colours. Will be waiting to see the upcoming all black version which features Steinhart's Ultra Resistant Carbon coating, rated at 1000 Vickers.
Whats not to like?
Super pics!
Seems opinions are a bit divided!
I think I may wait for the PVD version, and a little concerned about any resale values!

:D I think its cool, yes it may be a bit busy and it is on the large side but it does look cool, better with the stainless case than the full PVD though I think, Lume is ultra 8) though.
I really like it, especially the PVD version. It looks well made.
All the Steinhart I have seen, handled and owned were very well made and I think they are good value if you like the watch. But to my eye there is always something missing or something that completely spoils the designs. To each their own.
i love it, stunning watch! i will get the PVD model. anyone knows anything more about the ip plating? is it scratchproof like DLC?
Nothing plated is scratch proof. It will all eventually wear. Some take a bit longer than others. The only difference is that you can't polish or refinish it yourself except with a black marker. :evil:Originally Posted by jumbo
 I point you both in the direction of my earlier post regarding the coating - it's unlike any other black coating on the market and is called URC, which stands for Ultra Resistant Carbon coating. Its hardness is rated at 1000 Vickers, where stainless steel is between 140 and 180 depending on grade, making URC virtually scratch proof 8)Originally Posted by Dibetu
Very hard wearing yes, scratch proof not at all! Not trying to belittle the Steinhart offering in any way. But its not unique, carbon coatings have been used for years. Talking about coated tools and watches in general; Sapphire at 2000 Vickers can be scratched and the very best Industrial PACVD-DLC coatings used for industrial drilling tools and a couple of the higher end watches out there is over 2400 Vickers hardness. This process is not yet available in China though  And still its not scratch proof. Its not about hardness alone. Where the UHC coating has an advantage over others is that it has very low friction properties but like all coatings it is micron thin and if the material below it is soft you get the egg shell effect. Some of the more evolved products harden the base material below, add the coating, and then add a clear softer coating over it. This process is expensive. When it comes to tools there are a lot of producers that offer DLC or PVD recoating at reasonable costs. I have yet to see a watch producer offer recoating! Or offer a coated watch that will not scratch. In my personal experience the high end Citizen hardened and coated titanium product is my favourite of all.Originally Posted by Seb d
Fair play, and I bow to your hardness facts  However in normal, day to day use, I would assume that a coating that is 1000 Vickers should offer greater protection against scratches and wear than a PVD or DLC coating with a much lower hardness rating, thickness aside. Steinhart had to bin a number of bezels which had been coated as the decision was made to engrave them post-coating but it proved impossible, or at least they couldn't do it using the methods they had at their disposal.Originally Posted by Dibetu
thanks for the info guys, i heard about the PACVD,DLC a while back when a mate bought a Dievas watch which had that particular coating on. i be happy if the steinhart is 1/2 as tough. :D

Pretend it was designed by Lamborghini and it starts to look quite nice! The orange dial one is a full box of frogs though, great.
Quite cool and IMO that's not an awful lot of money for a diver's watch rated at 1000m...
Too big for me though... I'd never get away with 45mm strapped on my wrist!
I really like it, distinctive and a bit different.
I agree, I quite like it.Originally Posted by nesima
I have to say I like the look of this one. The mad lume is especially cool!
There were quite a few older versions getting flipped in SC recently. I first thought I liked it but found I went off it after I saw the Kemmner Octopus. Horses for courses I suppose. 8)
Just noticed theres a wilson on SC

nice lumes! :P
Nice lume but not for me. I like the Ocean 1 Vintage but what I can't believe is that they don't come with a divers extension and so I won;t be indulging.
Yes, it is an eye catching piece. Just a little too much orange though. The original wins on looks in my book.

Fantastic, absolutely love it.
I think it looks O.K. I do like the HEV, not seen one like that before, but one thing you cant argue with is the price, very good value.
we all love it but not at this price
ill pass
It gets my vote, but with the £ V Euro it is a tad on the steep side I feel. would like nice in the collection though, great mid range Holiday watch, looks tough as well.
Orsa was what came to mind when I saw the first picture.Originally Posted by mr1973
