Yep - in terms of comfort, they do not come nicer, but somehow they have grown totally out of fashion.. Here on a húmming bird Eterna with a special dial indicating electricity and tuning fork

Hi Guys
Show those cushion shaped cases.
I do not think we have had one of these for a while and I really like those cushion shaped watch cases. At first I found them a little too retro and a bit akward looking as I was more used to "ordinary" lugs and cases, but they have really grown on me.
I am wearing the Certina today and the case wears great although the watch is comparatively heavy. The watch is not top heavy at all.
I know there are some nice ones out there.
I recently fancied a "new" one but NOS prices on eflay are just too high at the mo.
Check out this DS-2 beauty for example:

As I can not buy one right now, please show those cushion cases.
Here is my slightly modded DS-3

The only one I have, looks large but it's so comfy :)
Vostok Amphibia 'Ministry' case......

Custom Roman...
Cheers :D
Great pics all.
Some of my favourites. One of my first real watches was an Eterna. I have been lusting for a vintage Eterna ever since. I have a Seiko 6105 also though it is sadly out of commision (does not screw down all the way. I have to find some one to fix it).
Very nice, Dapper. I noticed it the other day when you posted it. It checks of most boxes for me. The shape, roman numerals, no-date, the less-is-more deisgn. Is it a Parnis?
Interesting Mike, do you rate these as being cushion shaped? I might have misunderstood something about the shape......
Offhand I would not call the shape of the "50" nor the Radomir, "Italian" etc for cushion shaped, but that might just be me....
The pic is great of course. Being a PAM fan, it is always "interesting" (to say the least) to see your pics. What a foursome. I just can not get enough of those.

Ooops, sorry (thugh I have nothing against Parnis).
That is even better. I like that A LOT! Looks great :P
Now I am sorry I asked. Will have to look into getting one of those
Might you have a link to Erkahund?
Thanks for info.
:D
here is one
cheers
mike
Not only did I drool over this one at SC - now you post it here, so my resistance can be worn further down :lol:Originally Posted by GraniteQuarry

EDIT: Were the Roamers issued to both Rhodesian and South African forces. Rhodesia had them, I think.
What a beaut. What is the story behind this one - is it the one you have posted about before?Originally Posted by seadog1408
Looking forward to hearing about it.
And again...! I keep getting great excuses thrown at me to post pics of my 7'2 IWC

I like it a lot!
'Erkahund' is Roland's ebay id. You can also deal directly, pm sent :wink:Originally Posted by WatchScout
A Record (Longines apparently?). Has attracted as much comment as any watch I own - not sure why. I bought it by accident on EBay (as you do), but have grown to like it.
Oh, and this one too..

Whats the point after Mike posted his little collection of vintage Panerai's: D - however just for fun you understand.

Probably not at all old - from the original cushion period (no i love Pams but do not call them cushion by the way as answer to earlier in the thread)

PRS3-LE has a cushiony feel I think.
I used to dislike what I thought to be monstrosities (sp?). In this case, I was wrong. VERY confortable and a concept that deserves to be revisited.
Mr1973, those are FABULOUS photos! I´m going to steal them!
How about some military cushions?
It's a current model actually (Glycine Airman SST06). The original SST is earlier though (60's , 70's). You'll find some more info about the original here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~andres55/frames/airmanmodel2.htmOriginally Posted by hannover_dk

Some great looking watches in this thread!
I will have to dig out my old Seiko 6105 and have it repaired after seeing the Seiko pics.
I am with you on that one.Originally Posted by hannover_dk

Wow, thats some nice watches here.
I'm waiting a mine. I pulled the trigger on a 6309.
Can't wait.

Dave
I agree.
Looking forward to seeing the 6309 here
Nice Rado. Certainly something else than their ceramic line. Though a cushion, it looks flat.Originally Posted by gee-whizz

Wow egyptfive, you certainly stocked up on Enicars
I like those a lot as my first "real" watch was an Enicar. I have been hunting for a decent size non-chrono Enicar for some time.
Fantastic Enicars!
One of my favourite brands btw :-)
I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
This do? this is the watch that started it all for me. My Dad bought it new in 1969 somewhere in the Lebanon, and it's been mine for about 15 years. It's the cheapest of all my watches, and the only one i'd run back into a burning building for! It's had one service in its life and keeps good time still!
Kind of 'cushiony'.....
I have just resized the bracelet on this 70's Lanco (b*tch of a job) and will start wearing it later in the week.
